Pop talking to Mamu during their FTs. Hopefully that means Mamu is about to play.

Devin with the DD middy move.

We now need better stops at our rim.

And play cleaner, too many TOs.

Keldon two drives, fouled twice. Well well...

Yeah Sean just saying it... Not astrophysics... If I see it, surely Keldon et al do as well.

Mamu D effort and reading the P&R switch and recovery well with Dev was textbook. Keldon sagging in the paint because he lost his man and then was late out for the contest was not. Luckily they missed.

Sochan twice helped Mamu well to double their C down low. Good timing and physicality.

Keldon drives. Keldon off glass scores.

Keldon drives. Keldon scores.

Sochan bounce pass ahead in fast break to Branham who finishes nicely at the rim again.

D to O - stop, rebound, transition 3 by Devin.

Branham drives and scores off glass. Again.

2ND Q: SPURS 47 ROCKETS 51

Started slow largely on accrued misses, finished on a flurry of misses, but in between there, we made enough shots and got enough stops to pull a 10-point deficit to within 2 before finishing 4 down at the half.

Devin woke up in the 2ND Q to put some points up but I don't like his body language. He *looks* reluctant to have to initiate the O, and in bringing up the ball late he called his own number twice in a row, both 3s, both misses. Sochan O board end of Q J missed as well. But we need more from Devin - more energy, more defensive plays that shift momentum, more hustle, more leadership.

Jeff McDonald mentioned that it's super cold in the arena which probably accounts for both teams shooting poorly.

We were once again abysmal from the arc 1-10 but I do like that we did a better job mixing these up with drives, so that 13 other shots were pain or non 3s.

Cedi first then Branham then Keldon got the DRIVE memo and wouldn't you know it, we got to the FT line more, making 5-6.

We did, however, put them to the FT line for a total 15-18 so far, so we have to clean it up. Better D (maybe except for Keldon missed roataions) but we did a better job running back, providing help D, protecting the rim (5 blocks, 4 by Wemby).

Very pleased with Branham's initiative to use his twitchy, quick, compact skill set to keep driving. Leads us with 11 on 5-6, 0-2 from 3, 1-1FT, and equally as impressive are his contributions elsewhere like 4 rebounds and 3 assists.

Sochan on O is bad. Sochan on D is good. Good D on their PG; good help on the bigs. The latter is simply way ahead of the former. The Sochan-Wemby 4-5 isn't yet what we need it to be in terms of spacing and chemistry. They each have a hybrid game and the overlapping parts get into one another's sweet spots.

We have 8TOs which have cost us 6 points; we have only forced 4TOs and earned a single point on them.

We got more momentum as the Q progressed. We need physicality and vertical movement. We have to set up our bigs better. The foursome of Wemby, Sochan, Zach, and Mamu have a combined 9 POINTS.

Whatever happens, let's come out with some effort and hustle this upcoming Q. We have to change our own path here.

Branham saves the ball from going out of bounds, we save the possession after getting a strip, Branham drives and gets fouled, we side out of bounds it, Keldon HUSTLING AGAIN for the rebound, earns another O possession.

We keep missing shots after setting up worse ones from better chances, then give up points the other way. Not the smartest choices here...

Wemby has a good chance but dishes to Sochan. Sochan under the basket passes out to Keldon. Ball goes through his legs out of bounds. ****.

You can see why there was a push to put the ball in Sochan's hands - he is FAR FAR TOO SLOW in making decisions with the ball. And he's back to even worse than before.

Finally a play that looks like an organized set basketball play. Let's run the **** out of it and alley oops forcing defenders to adjust. Butter that bread. Add some tasty jam.

Keldon is so bad on D when a guy gets a first step on him, and they keep getting first steps on him because he just has too wide a stance and is flat footed and does not move his feet fast enough.
