Zach late again. He was better last season in the rim protection and awareness.

Good shots, but we're just missing them. I'd rather we keep pushing at them at the rim.

Dev end of Q J, and we full court press to force shot after clock miss.

I agree, Branham looks completely lost. Such a disappointment...

2ND Q: SPURS 66 HAWKS 62

We allowed a 35+ point Q against but forced the issue to push for a 30+point Q ourselves to stay ahead. We withstood an early Q push from them to build our lead back up to 10 and when they got to within 1 we found rebounds, passes ahead, and D to O transition points to put some distance between us and our opponent.

Four more TOs this Q which are so far costing us only 6 points! We are actually +4 in the stat but we can't be giving up chances to score. We are already down 6FGAs so their pace blitz already puts extra pressure on our D and efficiency.

We have done well to withstand their runs, limiting them to far fewer consecutive points than other opponents in the past, but we have to make sure we don't fall in love with the 3 so much as to get sucked into their pace and rush shots rather than create the ones that work best for us. Find the guys down low. Make smart passes. We've done that well enough to the open weak sides so far, but in congested spaces this is always a team that gets deflections so we have to be more mindful of when and where the ball leaves our hands.

Boxing out has to be better.

Sochan had a terrific 2ND Q. Very physical, fighting well in the paint, getting O boards, dunks in transition and cuts and putbacks. I like also how he has drawn defenders into the paint and then finding our guys in kick outs.

Wemby has been terrific on both ends. KJ better energy, too.

Tre (0-3) and Branham (0-2) are opposite examples of contributing - or not - when not scoring. Tre has been a beast with on ball defending, has found team mates for bench high 3 assists. Branham has 2 boards and 2 assists, and 2 TOs but he's been largely invisible. We need some impactful plays beyond shot taking, which he's not doing a lot of anyway.

Julian has found his shot so far, thank goodness. We need Cedi to do the same.

Drive hard at them, be aware of their hungry hands and protect the ball better, make sure we dictate positive play and impose our game.

Sochan TO on DJ's super long arms. Can't have those one handed passes in that guy's vicinity.

Branham WIDE OPEN right elbow J miss. Clank.

And there goes our lead.

And we find KJ for the left side 3 to get our lead back.

KJ AGAIN horizontal work at the rim and AGAIN we TO it on a bad pass.

I don't like our pace and tentativeness to start this 3RD Q. Have have to PUSH AT THEM.

Wemby deflects and steals a pass, runs the floordown the middle, gets the pass for the dunk.

"Way to go, Branham" just not a smart game by him so far tonight. He HAS to show something.

Branham nice and assertive into the defender's body, nice use of glass for the finish.

Branham gets a hand on their drive for the deflection block at the rim. Nice two-way contribution.

Sochan 3. Then Sochan runs the floor, calls for the ball, and Wemby high low pass for the foul. Good decisions and synergy.

Those extra passes to move defenders and get that extra little bit of space for our 3s is part of those smarter little plays that are getting us better looking shots, more balanced, more time, better alignment, all that god stuff.

He had a nice little stretch of a couple of good plays on either end so it worked!

Tre doesn't even have to look to know Dev is in that left corner. And that HIGH balanced release gets by contests far better.
