2ND Q: SPURS 60 NUGGETS 72

A slow grinder of a start, too much horizontal passing, too many TOs (5 this Q) but we finished it on a 8-2 run to cut an 18-point deficit to 12.

We actually have one more 3, but 3 fewer FTs and 5 fewer made FGs due to PITP discrepancy - 30-16 against for us, trimmed a bit by a 14-10 fast break points for us. It's a close 18-16 against in points off TOs, so the fouls by us and getting more FTs for us is important.

Wemby has put together an incredible half, leading us with 17 on 6-12, 2-4 from 3, 3-4FTs along with team high 9 boards (team high 4 on O), 1 assist, 4 steals, 2 blocks, to only 1TO. Incredible inside and outside work, getting into it more physically, absorbing contact on both ends.

Dev off the bench with 14 on 5-9, 4-6 from 3, 2 assists, 1 steal.

The rest of the starters are not scoring well but for Branham 2-4, 1-2 from 3.

Outside of Wemby, the other four starters have combined for 17 points; outside of Devin, the other five bench players have combined for 12 points. So yeah our top 2 guys need more help. We need to get at them at their rim more and we need to make them feel us at our rim better. Get fouls, get FTs, get vertical, get physical.

Et voila. There's the non-Sochan Q everyone's been pining about. Or the pro-Tre Q everyone's been pining about. And here we are. Same patterns of missing shots. Pretty hard to stay with a team that has made 40FGs to our 28 on nearly identical attempts.

Wemby's a wonder.

We have to learn to use glass better.

Running back on D is something we did better in the 1ST Q to half. Maybe sucking air at this altitude, but still, run back when the shot goes up.
