Boy, this is all a bit of a whirlwind...Chris Daniels is reporting [er...tweeting] that tomorrow could be a very important day for Seattle sports fans:

This would be unprecedented for Seattle. We're potentially talking a BILLION dollar deal, with an arena, and two teams. #nba #nhl

Arena News Conference scheduled for tomorrow. I'm told Hedge Fund/Land Owner Chris Hansen is in town. He met with council members. #NBA #NHL

BREAKING: Source tells me press conference scheduled at #Seattle City Hall to announce deal on new sports arena complex...

I just heard that. Now I get the be the jack ass Seattle fan rooting for some other city to mess up and have their team move here. Its really too bad this wouldn't have just happened three or four years ago.

We had some good times together from 1977 through 1979, didn't we?

I'm a Portland fan, but I always liked Seattle a lot too (go figure)! I'm really hoping that the NBA gets a team back in Seattle, and soon! I despise the Thunder and have since their inception.

My guess is that the Sonics' return is more likely 5+ years off than 3 or fewer. There are a few things than could happen and make it sooner (with Sacramento or Milwaukee) but the odds seem to favor it taking longer (Memphis, Charlotte, Indiana,New Orleans, Portland, Clippers, Atlanta, etc.).

I really miss seeing the Sonics as part of the league. As someone living in the northwest I hope the NBA brings the Sonics back for you guys. The NBA doesnt feel right without the Sonics in it.

Whoa, I didn't know that board still existed.

Today's a nice day for Sonics fans as there's a rally to bring back the Sonics and show the politicians that there are still quite some people interested.
And that's just the day after Chris Hanson announced some of the names of his group, which includes Steve Ballmer and the Nordstroms.

I really hope that the Sonics will be back soon, even though it will most likely be on the expense of another city...

That's the sad thing about it. Another group of fans are going to have their team ripped away from them like Sonics fans did 4 years ago. At least from the Sonics fans end we'd be more supportive of the ones that have lost unlike these OKC cretins who wanted to rub it in our faces during the robbery and every chance they get after that.

Speaking as a Blazer's fan, I would be most happy with Seattle getting another
team but was curious if the Kings moved to Seattle, would there be any thought
of simply remaining the Kings but being the Seattle Kings instead?

Any thoughts of what is going on in Memphis? The guy who bought that team apparently
has net worth of $200 million which is nowhere enough to buy a team.

In reference to the KIngs name, simply No. Hansen has said that any team would be named the Sonics.

Now the question is...what part, if any, of the Sonics' history is retained? Boy it'd be swell if Clay Bennett decided to refuse to those rights back to us.

I was always led to believe it would be a shared history even if Seattle got another team.

Hello Sonics fans. I didn't at all like how you guys losing the team all went down and wish you all the best on landing a new team, just as long as it's not at the expense of the Milwaukee Bucks!
