It clearly did not signal that, as he retained all voting shares. You were told this, it was explained in detail, but again you just proceed to ignore it and troll on, now stating a date pulled right straight out of your ass.

Its a year later and he's still there. and he's literally added to his holdings.

He increased his ownership % in MLSE via Kilmer Sports Venture? Link? That is the relevant aspect not these other investments.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Hen bought a WNBA team. Keep up. Yeah, adding to his holding company and expanding it in basketball is irrelevant

Seriously though, Larry T is amazing. He will be sorely missed if he leaves the Raptor org. Fun fact, his grandfather was an immigrant that roamed the streets of Toronto with a horse and buggy collecting scrap metal. 2 generations later Larry T worth 2 Billion.

I deal with their firm. They actually did all the underground subway work back in the day. Masters of re-development of brownfield sites across Toronto

Kilmer is majority owned and controlled by Larry T. Kilmer owns 25% of MLSE. Omers bought a minority stake in Kilmer (20%). Larry T owns 80% of Kilmer. Omers is a silent partner. Rogers and Bell are required to be in consensus on all decisions, as before. Larry T is still the most powerful individual in the org, as before.

Things won’t be as nuanced under Pelley, a massive personality. He rewards performance and encourages creativity, but there is never any question he’s the boss. According to multiple sources, having the franchise leaders report to him was a condition of Pelley’s before taking the MLSE job.

In the meantime, no one is expecting Tanenbaum to remain passive as all of this unfolds.

When his exit strategy was originally planned back in 2011, it was timed to roughly correspond with Tanenbaum’s 80th birthday, which is in 2025. It turns out that with 80 approaching, Tanenbaum has no interest in slowing down. In addition to reportedly hiring Resch and eying the WNBA, he hired highly respected international soccer executive Ivan Gazidis to run Kilmer Sports Ventures, which would suggest ambitions beyond women’s basketball in North America.

Seeing that Tanenbaum has already began selling down his shares, it would seem unlikely that he could find a way to reverse the field and become the controlling shareholder of MLSE, but under-estimating him has never been a good idea.

“A lot of people think it’s done, Larry’s gone [from MLSE] but I’m not sure that’s the case,” said one sports industry figure familiar with the situation. “I don’t see Larry going quietly. People seem to think the story is written and I just don't. Larry is smart, Larry's, connected, Larry has money, and he knows how to raise money. We'll see how it all plays out. Yeah, there's the contract and there's the agreement, and then there’s what will actually happen in reality. Are they all the exact same thing in this one? We’ll see.”

When you tie this quote in with not knowing what Bell’s future is, are they implying Larry could purchase Bell’s share?

Larry buying out a large portion of Bell's stake is not out of the realm of possibility. Bell has been hot and cold on ownership for years. They could essentially swap their stakes with Bell keeping say 10-15% and Larry becoming the majority stakeholder. Basically pushing Rogers into a minority financier position.

It will be interesting what happeneds to Larry but him starting his own sports group is likely a precursor to him being pushed out

I'm going to relish a Bell vs Rogers head to head with no third party to arbitrate. They will never achieve consensus, which is why they might not be so eager to pay the inflated buyout Larry has set them up for.

The stench of Edward Rogers and his Jays go nowhere concerns me as Raptors fan. Bell is just a heartless souless corporate monolith but Rogers? Might as well sell a stake to Memories of Galen.

https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/40140685/saint-etienne-purchase-toronto-raptors-maple-leafs

Storied French club Saint-Etienne said on Monday they were in exclusive talks for a sale to the owner of the NBA's Toronto Raptors and NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs.

The full purchase of the 1976 European Cup finalist by Larry Tanenbaum's Kilmer Group should be ratified within weeks, the club said in a statement four days before a key end-of-season game in their push to be promoted back to top-tier Ligue 1.

"I know what Saint-Etienne represents for its community and for French football," Tanenbaum said in the statement, calling the club from central France "the beating heart of a city and its region."

Saint-Etienne are 10-time champions of France, though not since 1981, when their star player was French great Michel Platini. Their 41,000-seat stadium is one of the venues for the men's and women's soccer tournaments at the Paris Olympics.

The pending deal was announced as Saint-Etienne prepares to end the second-tier regular season needing to win at Quevilly on Friday to stay in contention for a runner-up finish.

Saint-Etienne, who were relegated two years ago, are assured of at least a third-place finish and entry into a promotion playoffs bracket involving four teams.

The club said it wanted to "ensure an ambitious future" with a new owner that was "trusted, experienced and financially solid."

Tanenbaum is the chairman and CEO of Kilmer Group and chairman of the board for Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, which owns the Raptors and Maple Leafs. Kilmer also is reportedly being awarded a franchise in Toronto for a WNBA team.

Saint-Etienne say the deal was being negotiated for Kilmer by Ivan Gazidis, the former CEO of Arsenal and Inter Milan.

Yep, the beginning of selling all his holdings and getting out of the business.

Now we know exactly why he hired Gazidis and why he sold a non-voting share for capital to OMERs.
