One game +/- is too noisy. He played a bunch of the non-Jokic minutes. Nuggets were +21 with Jokic on the court and -6 with Jokic off the court but I can't filter for Gobert On to see how that would layer onto Rudy's +/-. In the 2nd half minutes he sat that I remember Rudy played, they were -4. So if we just adjust for that, it makes Rudy -6 with Jokic on.

I don't know if I can look up stats for a player with opponent on/off. If anyone knows where to find this, would appreciate if you could point me to them.

It took 4 full games to make the Giddy starting change and wouldn't you know it, OKC isn't in a double digit hole right off the bat.

Deciding not to play the game on hard mode.

There is still a problem with Giddy minutes (that he's getting any at all).

But down 10 at half. TNT guys saying it's the first NBA game he didn't start. That surprised me.

He's been awful in any minutes. He doesn't defend and he's not being guarded. That deficit is yet again based on his lineup minutes.

OKC has Joe, Wallace, Other Williams and Wiggins as better options. That's still an 8 man lineup even if you eliminate the Giddy minutes. Which should happen in the second half if they're serious about winning this game.

8 man lineup sounds like what Thibs would do, not sure Daigneault will

Love Dallas’s team with Jones and Washington as their 3D finishers. We don’t even have one of those anymore unless we make Scottie that guy. Really hope Ochai gets a lot better.

OKC pissing another game away with inexcusable rotations. I think I know why I'm so irate about the Giddey thing. He floats around and plays like McCaw.

Giddey had a rough year for obvious reasons. That thing got swept under the rug.

It's disgusting that Draymond is on TV trashing Gobert now. Having the platform as an "analyst" to pile on a guy he choked out just this season.

OKC is a one man team going up against two guys that have seen and defeated every coverage.

OKC better not waste the next two years when their key guys are cheap. They should be adding as many good players signed to 1-2 year deals as possible because once they have 3 guys making max, they will need to move almost all of their key existing depth.

Presti has been guilty of wasting years and this is a prime example of that. He sat back at the deadline and saw competitors go out and add key pieces. One of those teams might just eliminate them.

With the parity in this league, you have to go for it. Gordon Hayward isn’t a needle mover.

Presti def has all the assets to improve the team but he can't sit on all that forever. He's gotta make some tough choices. Frustrating that he had the opportunity to make those improvements at the deadline and did nothing. Even having one real big would do OKC a lot of good as Lively has been able to come in and crush his minutes. Feels like it would be even worse playing the Nuggets/Wolves if they do move on. And with Chet needing to play the C they lack the type of big forward that can match on to a PJ Washington or Jones. Need more diversity in their small lineup. And yes, two superstars are beating OKC's one as Chet/Jdub have been more roleplayers than outright stars so far in this series.

But OKC as a whole aren't playing with the same confidence as they were in the regular season. I don't know if it's the nerves of the playoffs or the Mavs' defense, maybe a slight combo of both, but all their guards except SGA shot like sht in that game. Spend all year living by the 3 and they're dying by it now.

That may well turn around in game 6. But if not, we'll see if they can pivot.

Also showing that this Giddey/Killian Hayes archetype has amounted to jack sht in the league and teams should stop trying to chase it. You gotta be able to shoot.

yeah, agreed. It's really hard in today's game to make an impact especially in the playoffs where things get tight. Same thing with Dyson in New Orleans.

As for OKC, Presti has done a phenomenal job in building this club. They are young and they showed him this year they can compete in the West and be a top seed. But now this off-season he has to spend and be aggressive. You never know what can happen.

Presti shouldn’t rush. No point making a big trade for a player that won’t move the needle. Also OKC were never going to win the title this year anyway. As MJ said, “to succeed you must first learn to fail.”
