Actually how is Butler's contract looks like? How many more years left not counting this season?

This trade brings us to the next level. It would be nice having Amir, but I would love Boykins on this team.

Bring Butler to the Raps. First it will make us a better team. Second, I have him on my fantasy team and would love to have a Raptor. lol

I'll believe it when I see it. Either way I see BC making a trade, I dunno if were gonna get a top player like Butler but I guess we'll see.

first, butler can definitely play the 2. second, he can drive a bit. third, he's instantly our best perimeter defender. fourth, his contract expires earlier than jose's, allowing us to retool on the fly if we manage to trade hedo. further, we can do both a bosh trade and this one. bosh to LA for bynum and picks works.

a core of

jack
butler
hedo
bargs
bynum

is pretty insane, with both forward positions being locked in for the next decade - or at least the next 5. butler mentors derozan, who is now 6th man.

alternatively, a lopez/harris for bosh/filler swap is even better. run and gun much? balanced offense/matchup problems/speed/youth/cap flexibility, especially if we trade hedo.

harris/jack
butler/derozan
hedo/weems?
bargs/johnson?/evans
lopez/rasho/POB

let the dreams continue.
I believe in Masai.

I hope Colangelo can pull something BIG either adding the missing touch to the Bosh era or starting a new one. After reading Bosh's comments on whether he'd be traded. He didn't really say he'd miss Toronto much if traded that it was a business.

The fact that Bosh has the kind of mind set right now the business mind set has me thinking he's perpared to leave Toronto. If that's the case a Bosh trade isn't impossible. With possible players like Harris, Byumn, and an entire Rockets roster there will be good offers who will be hard to pass, but if we can get a Butler for Calderon tight deal I think it would be the good for the team, but Banks would be our backup point guard. The good thing is we can also have Turk run the point guard duties with Jack and Banks. Marco can also run the point.

If there is ANY way that we can get JaVale McGee, I'm in. Maybe something like Jose, DeRozan and Johnson for Butler, McGee and Boykins...?

I just saw this post and don't have time to read all the replies.
The idea of Calderon for Butler is OK but I don't see the rush for this deal. Keep in mind that Caron Butler is about 30 years old. I am all for to include Crittenton in this deal because it will allow the Raptors doing the Wizards a favor. Then we can waive Crittenton or keep him.

Deal that I think good for the Raptors:
Raptor trade: Jose Calderon+Reggie Evans+Amir Johnson+Rasho Nesterovic+Antoine Wright+Patrick O'Bryant
Wizard trade: Antawn Jamison+Caron Butler+DeShawn Stevenson+Javaris Crittenton

Of course this will probably not work.

Agreed.

Amir's the deal breaker for me. I'm not willing to throw away a very young athletic/hustling big just to appease someone who may not be here a season from now; especially if I'm throwing that big man away for a declining 30 year old small forward who we'd need to play the 2.

another one that I think of

Toronto trade:Jose Calderon+Reggie Evans+Amir Johnson+Rasho Nesterovic+Antoine Wright+Patrick O'Bryant+ Sonny Weems
Toronto get:Antawn Jamison+Caron Butler+Javaris Crittenton

Washington trade: Brendan Haywood+Antawn Jamison+Caron Butler+Javaris Crittenton
Washington get: Carlos Boozer+Jose Calderon+Reggie Evans+Amir Johnson+Rasho Nesterovic+Antoine Wright+Patrick O'Bryant+ Sonny Weems

Utah trade: Carlos Boozer
Utah get: Brendan Haywood
Note: Utah will save about 6 million/ 12 million

Guys, you do know Amir is an unrestricted FA this summer right? BC saying he wants to keep him at all costs scares the crap out of me, we all know his FA track record.

As for Butler, this trade is too good to be true. We owe Jose over 40 million left in his contract while Jack is producing better than him at half the cost and we trade him for the better player? Caron Butler makes this team so much better, not only at an individual standpoint but the fact that he can bring DeRozan and Marco under his wings and help mold their games. I def see us as a 2nd round team with Caron.

As for Amir, he's a great prospect and one of my fav players but he's too raw to be a deal breaker at this point. He's an UFA, and it's not certain he'll resign with us. Do we even have the capspace to resign him? What happens when Reggie returns?

Butler is the better player in this trade and if it's true BC should be all over it then trade turkudodo + 2nd rounder to orlando for wince carter and let his a$$ come off the bench behind DD for 10 or 15 min lol

A big fat 'meh' if this lateral deal is made.

Says the poster who promises to leave realgm once the season is over b/c the Raptors won't win 50 games.

if we get butler, we have to get rid of weems or wright instead of amir because one of these two wouldnt get any minutes in jay's rotation.

Return to Toronto Raptors
