Not to excuse poor effort, but how often do guards dive in from the perimeter on a free throw? Especially if they aren't given a heads up on it being an intentional miss?

Considering the game is on the line during a playoff game and the free throw was never guaranteed in the first place, he should have been prepared to fight for the rebound.

The thing is if you watch Kyle and read his lips after he drew the foul, he turns around and is walking to the ft line and he is telling his team he is going to miss the second one. He did inform his team, now maybe Maxey wasn't paying attention or whatever, but Kyle straight up did tell them, and told them sneakily even before he set up to shoot the first ft, I knew it was coming but young guy like Maxey has to go through the learning steps to get his head in the game

Active players who've been the #1 on a title team:

Curry - out in play-in
KD - out in the 1st round
Lebron - down 3-1 in 1st round
Giannis - down 3-1 in 1st round
Kawhi - 2-2 in 1st round
Jokic - Up 3-1 1st round

You're starting to see the transition from the old superstar generation to the new superstar generation. It's unlikely that Curry, KD, Lebron, Kawhi ever win another title as a #1. The younger Giannis/Jokic still have a lot of juice left, but guys like Edwards, Tatum, Doncic, Shai are starting to take over not only in the reg season but in the playoffs.

By the end of his current deal, Beal will have earned close to 500M (479M exactly) over his career by age 33. LOL

His agent should go into the hall of fame.

Kawhi gave it his all in the 2019 playoffs; over 40MPG from the semis to the finals. He hasn't been the same since then, not sure if he overworked himself but Toronto needs to retire his number. Even though it was 1 year, he's the best player to put on a uniform.

This dude sacrificed his longevity to give Toronto its only title

They’ll also need to pay iHart and even offer Precious a decent contract. Ideally they should get rid of Mitch Robinson for a cheaper back-up big.

I’m rooting for them this season, but I’ll be glad when they overpay role players in the off-season.

They have some decisions to make for sure, but also in a great position to add a scorer this summer. I see what you mean about Robinson but conversely if healthy him and iHart are the best center tandem in the league, especially in Thibs' system. But a younger guy who could hit foul line jumpers would do wonders too.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

You basically never see a NTC in basketball contracts and I keep thinking it's a byproduct of Leonsis owning both the NHL and NBA teams. He finally had great success with the Caps after a long series of disappointments and a guy like OV getting a lifetime NTC contract makes sense the way the league is setup (it actually doesn't, but no choice) and some sort badge of ownership honour.

Except that Beal is more like TJ Oshie and you can submarine your entire franchise with one bad contract in the NBA.

Ya gotta respect the passion, they're basically Leaf Nation of the NBA. They have a bit more hope though, their dogs have shown up.

I have 0 respect for them, and they will get handled next round unfortunately embiid is injured

Embiid is a fake superstar. Trying to get sympathy for Bell's Palsy? Lol.

His knee has been cooked since the Spurs. We’re lucky he was playable in the ECF and final given he began limping around vs the Bucks.

It is what it is at this point. He gives the Clippers a false sense of hope they can contend. At this stage they may need to consider bringing him off the bench.

I’d put Dame in the same category. Dame is an all time great player. However call me old fashioned but I’d only give a player super max money if they moved the dial on winning and could win me 1-2 playoff series on a regular basis. It’s a team game but it’s reasonable to expect a guy making 40% of the cap to have an outsized impact on winning.

I feel like he worsened whatever he had with his 19' playoff run; around 20+ games of 40+ min in a short span will do that after an entire season of load management.

Raps need to make good and honour him IMO.

No, Kawhi did not sacrifice his longevity for us. He took a measured risk to push what his body still had, so that he may rebuild his reputation as a max / supermax player to secure it the following summer

No man.

He was here one season and left after a championship. He basically developed no relationship with the city despite the Kawhi craze that was going on.

He was paid alot of money and he performed the way a pro athlete should. I don't think he needs our sympathy for the way his career turned out. You cannot retire a guys jersey who only played one season and then bailed.

Doncic needs a bit more discipline to lose his fat and build up his stamina, so that he doesn't end up with injuries come play-off time. He is not winning **** until then. I have said this the year he entered the league and I am still waiting...

Jokic isn’t exactly built like a fitness model and is pretty good. Mavs problem is they’ve done a terrible job of asset management. They don’t have enough around Kyrie and Luka. I don’t see them winning anything.

Return to Toronto Raptors
