He took the FVV “Bet on yourself”, way too literal.

Watching these highlights.....you can see why they are giving him a look.
- Can make quick reads & nice passes out of the high post
- Has decent looking form on his 3 point shot (swished a bunch in this video). 32% in G league.
- Can handle the ball a little
- Good motor/ scrappy
He has some Kelly O in his game, but more athletic. Maybe he can learn from Kelly.
Definitely worth a look. He is also a decent rebounder & shot blocker. Not sure how disciplined he is with his offense (only 43.6% shooting in G League......which isn't great for a big). This may be why he hasn't gotten any burn on an NBA roster. We will find out soon enough.
I think they should continue to look for bigs that fit Darko's system. Scour the GLeague, Europe & the draft. There may be some bigs out there that fit what the Raps are trying to do, but haven't gotten a look by other teams because they don't have the typical NBA skill set that most teams are looking for.
You get the system running with the right players, see how it looks, then upgrade if it's working well.

Kelly O smiling somewhere right now lol. Never know if Williams will work out or not, though the odds say he probably won't. But at the very least Malik will provide the team another source of size during his 10-20 day stretch, which they've needed since Jontay got yeeted into the shadow realm.

Good, they haven't done enough of this since the 905 glory days. Checking out guys in practice and game situations is the best way to conduct professional scouting, and it should be a no-brainer when winning isn't on the line.

I think if the Raps can get him to play a role (passer/ rebounder/ defender/ opportunistic scorer), then he may have a chance. If he comes in here going full MJ mode, then it will be a wasted opportunity for him. Unfortunately they didn't have much luck reigning Precious in, so we will see what happens.

I think there is a pattern of players that the Raps have been bringing in on these 10 day contracts:
- Bigs that can potentially take the outside shot a bit (Malik Williams, Jontay Porter and even M Gueye)
- Combo type guards that can score and handle the ball (JFL,Carton, Ramsey, and they also gave Kira Lewis a try from the trade earlier)
Could be a hint of what the Raptors are looking for in this upcoming draft and even free agency this summer.

Yeah, we certainly have enough wings with Barrett, Dick, Achbaji, Brown, Barnes (wingish), Trent Jr, JFL, Nwora...
I still believe in drafting for talent, so if the *right* guy falls, go for it, but it's hardly an area of need. We desperately need more 3/4s to replace Spicy, OG and Precious. It also seems like Boucher won't be back and Jalen McDaniels never showed up, sadly.

They have though, the last 3 years they had played up to 21,23, and 22 players on the roster. It's only higher this year due to injuries. 3 of the 29 players this year have had less than a total 5mp, so really it's not that far off from past years.
They just haven't found anyone worth keeping yet.
