I thought with all the load management and cord cutting that they'd be in trouble this go around. Crazy

NBA is as usual manipulating the numbers a little here. They claimed originally that they would double or even triple their rights deals. This is a 170 percent increase on the average of the last deal. They are not going up 170 percent on the amount they got on the final year of the previous deals. Also there appears to be an aspect of global media rights in this deal as far as Amazon is concerned which the previous deals didn’t include. So Silver is actually under delivering on these deals from what they expected a year or two ago.

They are more than doubling if they finalized
from 2.6B to 6.9B

Originally they thought they'd get 8-9B but they cooled back on that

That works out to like 218m per team per year / ticket prices should be slashed in half, they can more than easily sustain that

Half of that goes to the players.

Going to see some guys make 75-80 mill a year soon.

Doncic is going to be eligible to sign a 5/364 deal next year. He will likely be the first 80M player.

The hype was real for Vince's first NBA on NBC appearance.

Wow, sounds like Silver doesn't want TNT matching because they're cable only and don't have NBC's regional networks. So he's going to claim $2.5 billion isn't a "match"? I wonder if this gets ugly like the Wolves ownership situation.

Personally I'd also rather the league be on the more accessible channel, better for the sport that way.

Yep pretty much.

Ernie has already gone on record that he will stay with TNT and Charles will become a free agent. Shaq and Kenny are still up in the air. T

So yeah inside the NBA looks to be done. End of an era.

I bet one of the networks throws a boatload of money at the NBA on TNT crew to lure them there. Ernie can be tempted away with the right offer.

Geez how the heck is Shaq going to convince anyone of anything? If I were TNT I would tell him to stay away rather than show up. His presence is not good.

I don't think they care if you are cool with it.. Money talks and at least we get the NBA on NBC theme music back so that's a win.. That Inside the NBA was cool at the start but got lame over time. All things come to an end
