He’s just bitter we just got good the minute we traded him for some role players.

What a fantastic trade that ended up being. The in-season turnaround leading right into the "We The North" era. Beautiful. Rudy Gay is a complete afterthought in basketball history. If you do think about him, it's to use him as a textbook example of underachievement.

Toronto will always be a an easy target/scapegoat based on being the Only Canadian team but anyone that spends time here loves it. I prefer to look at the stars opinions on Toronto Barkley/Shaq/Vince/Lebron etc. Did he want to go to Milwaukee?

Can't blame him, he missed playing in the beautiful metropolitan city of Memphis before coming here.

His most high rizz moment in Toronto was this video (when he wasn't even a Raptor) and being traded for John Salmons, Greiveis Vasquez, Patrick Patterson, and Chuck Hayes. Actually can't believe we got that much for him, lol.

Rudy had a Shareef Abdur Rahim type career. Made a ton of money on bad teams but never really won anything. All his teams got better after he left.
What a sad career.

It’s funny, I wouldn’t have described it as sad after he reinvented himself as a solid bench guy, played multiple years under Popovich, and had a nice long career where he made a bunch of money. Clearly he had some respect for the game.

what a douche. I still remember right after the trade the Open Gym team filming every single step he made from picking him up from the airport to riding in the car on the Gardiner. Him saying he was very excited and that why didn't BC draft him in the first place. Of course, all that was fake.

Funny thing is as poorly as he played here and as badly as we sucked in the short time he was here, he managed to hit 2 game winners. Even the legendary 11-37 game, he hit a game tying 3 to send it to OT. He was actually quite good in the clutch because of his ability to get his shot off.

He never really won anything in his career let's he honest. Sure he made a bunch of money but never really improved any team he was on. Most teams got better when he left. I wouldn't call those Spurs' teams great teams. Great he became a role player. Who cares?

Considering what he said, he deserves all this hate. Dude is just salty because he was selfish on our team and we got exponentially better when he left acquiring a bunch of role players.

1. We were a basket case of an org at that point
2. No winning culture
3. Weather is cold
4. High tax
5. Ignorance among American players about playing in another country

It’s a valid point for him to make

What’s laughable is Gay has had a mediocre career. He deserves respect for the longevity but he never achieved anything. I don’t think he ever got out of the first round.

Early in the 2013-2014 season he played some of the most selfish iso-oriented basketball I've ever seen, stunting the growth of Derozan and Lowry. When he got called out on it by the media he literally convinced Casey to ban stat sheets from the locker room. Ironically, Rudy getting traded gave us a solid bench and allowed Lowry and Derozan to thrive, ushering the greatest era in Raptors history.
