Customize RealGM

Here is a Stylish script that strips out the extra clutter and leaves the forum clean and very easy to read. It also maximizes the viewing area. Get it now instead of waiting for the site designers to enable it. Feel free to check it out or modify it to suit your needs.

If you are already using Firefox and have Stylish installed, simply get the script to change the appearance of RealGM:
http://userstyles.org/styles/8056

Older grey colour scheme
http://userstyles.org/styles/8015

If you are not using Firefox, get it! (It's the best browser, hands down) http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html

Next, add Stylish https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2108, a Firefox plugin that lets you change the style of any site.

It may seem like a lot, but it's really easy to do, < 2 mins, and you will notice a big improvement in readability. Of course you can always change the colours or fonts to whatever works for you.

Capital idea my friend!! Totally fixes the quotes.

Now to figure out how to apply styles to make the board look like it did before this change

Actually it wouldn't be that hard to create a Stylish script that at least uses the old familiar colours. I would have to see a screen capture of the old forum...

here are a couple of screen shots I took from the Google cache. The board won't let me post pics wider than 525 px and I don't wanna resize and re-upload them again so I included direct links with the auto thumbnail imgs...

the board :
ignore the highlights of course...they are just my search terms. I made sure to get the a: hover and a: visited colours in there as well :)

The thread:
colours per post including a quote

do what you can when you have a minute..much appreciated.

The new look is growing on me especially after your script....but just looking at those old screen shots makes me really want it back.

i have two questions:

a) is it supposed to just cut off the wiretap slide show at the top but leave it blank?? cuz that's what it's like for me, i have to scroll down to see something that isnt an ad.

b) does it take u longer to load? for me it does...it takes me more time to load a page now...thanks a lot and good job overall.

a) I had the same problem on my work computer and remembered I didn't have Adblock : (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865) on it. Install that add on and subscribe to the 'EasyUSA' filter list when prompted. that will solve the problem.

b) it was a little slow this morning to load...but it's not the script...I tried loading it on IE as well (just the board as is ) and that was slow as well.

Thanks funk! If I have time on lunch I'll do an old school script. What are you doing with old screen caps on your computer?

Oh ya, I didn't think to test the script without AdBlock -- I wouldn't dream of using Firefox without it, ads are so annoying! I'm going to add the link to the top post, it's a must-have. Good find, funk.

cb4lif3, the script definitely shouldn't slow things down for people, it must have been the site itself or your internet connection.

Oh those are from the Google search cached pages...did a search this morning and thankfully the cache still had the old look and feel. :)

I posted a link to this thread on Winterpeg's announcement too. This seriously has fixed all the problems of the change for me and I'm on the board a lot more than I have been the last few months! So really really appreciate it.

cb4lif3 - you're welcome! Adblock solves all ;)

lol, you know a layout is bad when we have members already making scripts to alter the new layout.

AcesFull, thanks a bunch for this. I think I'm going to wait for the FINAL version before attempting to use your scripts. I suggest it's better if you wait as well, since changes will come, and all that hard work may go to waste... probably best to wait until you know no more changes are to be made.

Meh, it took me longer to post it to the forum than it did to make it. I'm just a fan of clean, simple interfaces. I'm sure things will improve, but it's also really easy to update the script. Now the only thing bothering me is the lack of quick post... I could create a greasemonkey script to add one myself, but that's a bit more work and it will probably be added soon by the site designers anyway given all the complaints about it.
