No, but I guess I rather have that deal than the Diaw one. Salmons is a slightly better all around shooter, and is good at scoring the ball when his team needs him to score. Don't like the fact that he's older than Diaw, but his contract and us keeping the 17th pick makes up for it.

I wouldn't do this deal, though I think it's fair. I'm sick of having so-called depth, where there's three or four players at a position who are around the same skill level. We need one small forward or shooting guard who's head and shoulders above what we have now, and Ford would probably be our best chip to bring him in. Diaw is, from a talent perspective, whether he puts it all together or not, but Salmons isn't, so I don't think this deal makes us better.

I'd do it over the Diaw trade. We hold on to the 17th pick, get a nice scorer in Salmons, an okay prospect in Douby and with that second round pick would could take a chance on either Dorsey, Mbah a Moute or even Bill Walker if he falls there.

Still, I think we could get more for TJ than either of those packages. I'd rather build a package to get a high pick while holding on to the 17th.

I like Salmons but he doesn't like Toronto.

I'd prefer Salmons + 12 for Ford + 17

I prefer neither, if I had to choose...I'd do the Diaw trade.

I'd prefer it, but I still wouldn't be jumping for joy. We're not going to be getting a MUCH better prospect, and we're still giving away a starter for a 6th man.

I'd do that in an instant.

But Salmons doesn't want to play here, does he?

EDIT: Also, TJ's BYC expires AFTER the draft, meaning they would pick for us and us for them and then trade.
I'm certain a better deal could be had straight up after the draft.

I like the trade, but if Jesus doesn't like Toronto then why bother?

I hate this deal.

Sacramento gets a very good point guard and gives up what? John Salmons and change? Ford has a much bigger impact on the game than Salmons, and I know we can do better than that package. At least with Diaw, we'd be getting a guy who has contributed on one of the elite teams in the league (especially in the playoffs).

Yuck.

We probably could do a bit better but you're not accounting for the injury discount that all teams expect. You're not going to get 100 cents on the dollar for TJ's on-court value.

Salmons is not enough of a different maker to do this deal, they'll have to include their pick and we can take on one of shareef, miller or kenny thomas, preferably miller

john salmons is actually a pretty good player.

he's scored 20+ many times and had a lot of good games this season.

but i would like more.

btw, is TJ's value this low?

crawford, diaw, salmons..

I don't expect that we will. If Ford had no injury concerns whatsoever, I'd be hoping to land a Luol Deng or Andre Iguodala-esque player.

What good is Quincy Douby and a second-round pick? This trade is essentially Ford for Salmons, and that's a pretty serious downgrade, IMO. I understand Ford has a medical history which might scare some teams, but I don't think Colangelo will trade T.J. if we're getting 10 cents on the dollar for him.

I wasn't exactly giddy about the prospect of trading for Diaw (with his lengthy contract and erratic performances), but I understand that Ford isn't going to net us an All-Star.

Edited to add: If these are the kinds of offers we can expect - Diaw, Salmons, Crawford - I'd much rather see Colangelo trade Calderon instead and try to get a Tayshaun Prince, Josh Howard or Richard Jefferson.

A starting line-up featuring Ford/Prince looks much better than one with Calderon/Salmons.
