Trading a young rising all-star for a declining steve nash does not sound good, we should keep caldy and we still can do as much as if steve was here

Calderon and Joey Graham for top 5 protected pick and Steve Nash

get er done BC

edit:nevermind, BYC **** everything up, we would have to give up too many players for the trade to happen

Trading a pg that plays no D for another that plays no D and is much older does not make a lot of sense.

Ship off Jose to acquire Nash, and send out whoever else besides JO and CB to acquire a legit wing, bring back Delfino for some depth, and let's go for it all.

If it was possible, I would do a Nash for Jose deal in an instant...thats factoring Age/Salary etc.

Watching Nash in TO would probably be the best thing ever, but let's be realistic here. Nash will be in his decline soon, and his minutes will have to be cut back as a result. He usually plays around 32-35 now. We just don't have a backup who can keep us competitive for a longer period. With Calderon, he can give us 38-40 so there's less Ukic/Solomon time to destroy what momentum we have. If Nash were to play for us today, that'd be 16 mins of Ukic/Solomon per game. That sounds like an eternity. Even while Phoenix was on top of its game, it would often struggle when Nash had his usual rest period. To this day that's the case. Unless we found a better backup, or Ukic or Solomon get better in a hurry, it just isn't feasible for us to have an older PG we can't pile the minutes on.

if it doesnt work out we can rebuild like crazy in 2010, i am guessing we would have the most money that year if we pull off this trade

I'm at work still and can't actually watch the video -- is this just speculation from The Score?

Are you guys kidding? OF COURSE you do this! We get back a PG who is perfect for CB, AB, Moon, AP, etc, add Hill, Barnes, bring back Delfino and we become an instant contender again and next year as well.

Then after that, we get 3 huge expiring contracts coming off and we can re-sign Bosh, another prime FA, and built around them.

This would be a classic BC shakeup.

Do it.

Yea. Just using history to make links to BC and Triano and present Nash to T.O as a possibility.

If we were to do a nash, hose trade... Would we have enough money in 2010 to sign bosh and another star? Or would we still lack the money?

wayt,

First of all Calderon is not a young all-star point guard, he's probably further away this year than he was last year and the way the other east point guards are playing I don't see Calderon making it a habit to get to the all-star game. Secondly, I would do this deal as it signals that the Raptors are making their push for a championship. I understand that this won't be enough but its worth a shot, because in 2 years time we can simply hit the reset button and use all that cap space to sign other big name free agents.
