Draft Countdown: Tyreke Evans

Post#1 » by Anatomize » Mon May 11, 2009 6:27 am

I haven't watched him play until watching some youtube vids, and I was very impressed.

I don't know if this has been posted before, but if not, enjoy:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDAT8yMr2b4

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-DYsPXURt0&feature=fvst (sick)

His style reminds me a lot of JR smith before he entered the league, I would be really glad to have him on the Raps if he's available at #9.

Positives:
•Classic 2-guard
•NBA body, strong
•Huge 6-foot-11 wingspan
•Scorer's mentality
•Relentless driver
•Quick first step
•Decent midrange jumper
•Excellent ball handler
•Quick with the ball in his hands

Negatives:
•Can be selfish
•Over-dribbles
•Lacks consistent range on his jump shot
•Not a super explosive leaper
•Poor shot selection

His dribbling reminds me of Joe Johnson. However, his jumper is horrible.

He has good range, his form is just very poor, he leans back way too much and has that overhead slingshot ala rookie LeBron. I think it can be improved nonetheless, the way this guy breaks guys down off the dribble, penetrates, and sets other guys, up would really help on our team.

Always been impressed with Evans and I've been a proponent of drafting him all year. I've mainly been a fan because he has such nice handles/slashing ability for a guy his size and that's definitely an asset we've lacked. Sure, his shot is lacking at the moment but that can be improved as he's just 19. Many others on this board prefer DeRozen, but gimme Tyreke any day.

Really good with the ball in his hands, definitely a creator. Not a great athlete (decent quickness, but poor hops), but I think he'll get into the lane well regardless. Hate his jumper, that is the main problem I have with him, and I think he's a bit selfish as well, but I still think he'd be a good pick for this team. Definitely has star potential, especially if he can fix that ugly jumper. Why must he fade away every single time???

He's the player I want the most but I can't see him dropping to 9. Maybe if the Knicks are serious about drafting Curry.

He's my pick as well. He just has that takeover mentality and ability in him. All the other wing players outside of Harden seem like athletic role players.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars

Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Jerry Stackhouse is my first impression of him.

Like Stack, he tends to overdribble, and doesn't have a great jump shot. Though Stackhouse may be a better athlete than Evans. He will get to the FT line though.

I like him a lot it's just a shame that no one's been able to fix his shot yet.

He is going to be a good player, he might become a piece of steaming crap like Crawful. But I think if he can get the mentality of being strictly a creator and slasher he can be a great player. He will also have adjust his shot in the NBA. My draft order be DeRozan, Evans, Henderson.

This is the guy I want. A SG with great handles who takes it to the rack. Hopefully Harden doesn't fall and the USC guys show off their hops in workouts so he is available at 9.

I think it's between him and DeRozan for me. If we want an immediate impact, I think that Tyreke is one of the most NBA-ready prospects in the draft.

I think I'm sold on Tyreke Evans too. We have experience fixing guys shots, no reason why we can't hep him improve his jumper. His other strengths are exactly what we need. No doubt he's also the BPA if he falls to us (unless Harden drops :pray)

If he's fading now, imagine the Vince Carter effect on his jumper.

Honestly, I'm not overly impressed with what I've seen. He can slash, but his handling and finishing look mediocre. Sure he can dominate the level of ball he is playing now, but I don't think it would translate to the NBA well at all.

That's where I am I don't think his game is NBA ready no jumper and limited handles make it hard to get to the rim a the NBA level.

If you think Tyreke's handles are limited then you might jump off a bridge when you see the other lottery SGs suit up in a Raps uniform. His handles are tight.
