Official Twitter/FB/MySpace Megathread

Post#1 » by Wasp » Mon Jul 6, 2009 6:55 pm

There have been a lot of twitter threads out there, and NBA players tweet all of the time. This thread is for all Twitter related content, so that it doesn't clutter the main board. Please direct that content here.

Thanks,
Alfred

Also throw in all your Facebook and Myspace stuff.
I'm not a fan of these threads either.

Here are Bosh's three tweets regarding the Hedo signing:

IF IT'S TRUE..Let's get it cracking H Turk!!! 11:21 PM Jul 3rd from web

I hope Hedo signs with us 11:13 AM Jul 4th from TwitterBerry

We got Hedo! Next season's gonna be a lot of fun 2:00 PM Jul 4th from TwitterBerry

It is hard to get a read on emotions via tweets, but it certainly seems like he is excited and happy with the signing. Contrast this with the long wait before he tweeted about Derozan's arrival and it certainly seems like he likes the 'win now' philosophy.

Thoughts?

There have been at least two threads for each tweet.

My thoughts are that CB doesn't have a clue when it comes to team building. Secondly, if he's that happy at this signing then I expect him to come into the season and have a huge impact on DEFENSE because now that he has some offensive support that argument has gone out the window.

I learnt a long time ago that players should just play and management should build the team. Players usually don't have a clue to what it takes to actually build a championship team while working with a salary cap.

I was pretty confused when I saw that too

Raptors RealGM is where overreaction happens though.

I waited on Bosh's table when he made that tweet. He originally wrote "I think we signed some middle-aged Eastern European but I could care less. $20mil in NYC with LeBron 2010, book it!", but his publicist happened to be there and snatched his phone away at the last second.

Can we just include daily tweets in the "daily papers" thread? Bosh's tweets are just as informative as his quotes to Toronto reporters.

This would be difficult to do, as the daily papers aren't so daily in the summer, and the content is completely different. I think the time is right to create a twitter-only thread, because it has been popular on this board, and it needs an avenue to be expressed, judging from the number of twitter-related threads that have popped up.

As for creating more clutter, I don't think that's going to be an issue at all. Post any and all NBA-related twitter messages here that you think are important, or funny or whatever.

I may be asking too much, but can the mods update the title if there is some important/note-worthy tweet?

Thanks.

http://www.twitlonger.com/show/1f0c22eb ... a770ba5a0d

These are the 9 reasons Turk will help the Raps.

1. He is at the top of his game right now. He will help the Raptors short-term so they better make their run now and keep Bosh happy.

2. First real small forward they have had in years. He can slash and hit the long bomb.

3. If Calderon or Roko are hurt or in foul trouble, Hedo can easily run the point. He did it for the Magic in the playoffs and really excelled.

4. Money scorer. He seems to get better in the fourth quarter and hits the big shots. Something the Raps have lacked for awhile.

5. Gives Raptors nation something to get excited about. Even my Mum is fired up about Hedo.

6. Could be a great mentor for Andrea Bargnani. They have similar games and Hedo could certainly share some of his growing pains with Il Muggo.

7. Defensive problems for opposing teams. If Hedo and Bargs are on the floor together, what do you do with those two on either wing. They can both drive and hit the jumper. Can’t wait to see that.

8. Turkoglu will add some mental toughness to a team needing it. He is a fighter and has a chip on his shoulder and hopefully this rubs off on other Raptors.

9. Might be enough to show Bosh that there is reason to stay in Toronto.

How about instead of a ridiculous "twitter thread", people actually go to twitter? It's one click away.

And anyway, does this really need to be stickied?

what's the big deal? :-?

how about instead of a ridiculous thread on an article, people actually go to thestar.com? It's one click away.

P.S. nobody loses from having a stickied twitter thread, some people find the twitter thingers interesting but dont actually have twitter because its a waste of time... lol
