New York Watch thread. The race for the 2010 #1 pick.

Post#1 » by jazzfan1971 » Tue Jun 23, 2009 8:04 pm

I intend to have this thread up all year as we Jazz fans delight in every NY loss and anguish through every NY win.

This thread starts in earnest with the draft and free agency as we watch and analyze NY's every move. Every draft pick. Every signing. Every trade. Leaving no stone unturned.

To visiting NY fans. Welcome. We would love your input. We'd really like to rub your nose into any overly optimistic views. But, we'll go ahead and eat crow when you have better insights than we do.

We love you guys. But, we hope you don't win a game all year. No offense.

This will be nice, so even if the Jazz lose a game we can say... At least New York lost too.

That's always a good fall back.

The real question is, do the Jazz win more games then the Knicks lose next season?

Perhaps this year the Jazz can help their own cause and sweep the Knicks for the first time since 03-04.

Remember that 3pointer Randolph hit against us last year? UGH!

Report: Blazers Will Trade Rodriguez To Knicks On Draft Night
More Knicks News

Jun 08, 2009 11:32 AM EST

According to a report from Yahoo-Eurosport, the Knicks will acquire Sergio Rodriguez in a draft night trade.

Sources from the Knicks say the two sides have had a deal agreed upon for almost three weeks.

Mike D'Antoni is reportedly driving the interest in the Portland point guard.

Old news, note the date. But, I thought it belonged here.

Does Sergio help the Knicks any? Duhon had a pretty good 1st half of the season in NY but seemed to get worse as the season progressed. I don't think Duhon helps the Knicks that much unless he's playing at near 100%. If he's at 80% they probably need help at PG. I could see Sergio coming in and being a nice spark for NY, but, I don't think he's an answer there either. Nice insurance if Duhon falls apart though.

If NY gets Sergio on the cheap, this is a + move for them. Lets see if it happens and what they give up.

There is a bold prediction. I like your style.

Minnesota just helped us more than they know--the Eastern Conference just got better (Washington will be in the playoffs), and there is about a 90% chance Curry is off the board when New York picks. I just hope they go with Jennings.

I want New York to pick Demarr Derozan. All potential, not NBA ready. I want the Knicks to pick the player with the least actual talent. The more raw the better.

I want them to trade up (hopefully giving away some decent players) and draft Thabeet or Rubio. I doubt either of those two will contribute much next year.

I am with you on the Rubio call. He may become a really good player but it isn't going to happen any time soon.

Apparently the Knicks are buying the 28th pick from the Wolves. Seems like an obvious ploy to get another pick to help move up in the draft since I doubt there is really anyone they are targeting at #28.

#28 is just cap clog. Odd.

I bet it will be a part of the Sergio Rodriguez trade.

The Knicks are already really active, it looks like they are going to turn Q. Rich into Darko Milicic, nothing into Rodriguez and then have Donny Walsh make a couple of his classic draft-picks. I think this makes them a worse team next season, but a much more attractive destination for free agents in 2010.

Why aren't we offering Harpring/Korver/Miles (some combo) for Darko?

Cause Darko isn't worth 7 million a year, would only be a one year rental, and is a bit of a head case.
