New York Watch thread. The race for the 2010 #1 pick.

I don't like Iverson signing with NY for the Jazz. He could take some pressure off the young guys while also lighting a fire under their a$$. It may add up to something more than a handful of wins; it could mean a change of tone. As far as this season is concerned, I don't see the downside for the Knicks.

AI has said he would be satisfied in a support role with a contender... What kind of role will he demand with the Knicks? As bad as they have been, Iverson makes this team better- even playing 35 minutes a night.

Knicks will continue to suck with or without iverson. I want the Jazz to draft Evan Turner from Ohio State. He's a junior 6-7 shooting guard who is playing the point this year out of necessity. The kid rebounds like crazy, plays great D and is just smooth as can be. He would be amazing alongside Deron:)

Iverson:

He is risky because he could take what might be an "early season slump" and turn it into a full blown catastrophy. The dude is one of the most abrassive and me-first guys in the history of all sports, and it is pretty apparent that his game has taken a severe hit during the last two years. Not just that, but he's a HORRIBLE fit for what D'Antoni is tryiing to do with his offense. As bad as Duhon's been, at least he doesn't force up a ton of bad shots (only a few bad shots, ). Iverson is the polar opposite of everything D'Antoni is trying to foster. The only reason they make that move is because they are blatantly out of options and they are just trying change for the sake of change.


Prospects:

Evan Turner had a seemingly nice game tonight. "Seemingly" because he put up 23 points and 10 rebounds against an awesome array of big guys play for the Tar Heels, and he did it on 9 for 14 shooting. However....a quick check down the line will show that he also produced 10 turnovers. Yes, 10. I watched the game, and he really really struggled to produce offense. Though, to be fair, OSU has surrounded him with supposed "shooters" who were instead clanking the ball off the rim. He could have had 9 assists in the first half alone, by my count, had his teammates converted every wide-open J he created. Still, he forced waaaaay too many drives to the rim, and was in position to creat a shot for HIMSELF on numerous occasions but didn't appear to have the shot in his arsenal, or didn't trust it enough, either way, to put the ball in the hoop. He's an impressive looking guy, but I think he's got to be a little more of a scorer to become legit top 5 material. But he's got a great looking package of skills, and its obvious by watching him.


Derrick Favors had a disappointing day, putting up only 10 and 6 in a loss to 21st ranked Dayton. Not sure what's going on down there, and I wasn't able to see the game, but they must run an extremely slow paced system. His 10 points led the team. A team with another potential 1st rounder in froncourt mate Gani Lawal as well as NBA prospect Iman Shumpert. Really eager to get my first look at Favors on TV.

Cole Aldrich played, but Kansas rocked their opponent so badly that he hardly got on the court.

How is a guy like Nate Robinson going to feel about Iverson takings some of his minutes...this move could either tear them apart or help them slightly

Lol @ the media for the debacle of the Iverson stories thus far. First its only a 50/50 shot Iverson will land in NY, than the probability jumps to the "high 90's", than before you know it there is no chance he will receive an offer. WTF....did anyone ever actually know what the hell was going on?

So my far early favorites are Evan Turner, Willie Warren and Cole Aldrich. I watched Cole for KU's first game and he seemed to play pretty well (5 blocks I think?), Turner has been putting up good numbers (disregarding the 10 TO's of course) I haven't seen Warren yet but it seemed like he has had some solid games so far.

I really like Turner; seems like a high quality guy that comes from a good program/coach with tons of skill/potential.

Good thinking Knicks. Bringing him into the same situation as Memphis, even if he did play 30 MPG, would eventually cause a disruption.

They did it so they wouldn't stunt the potential of their young players. That right there is sure-sign proof they dont give a **** about this season. It's all about 2010 in NY baby.

What a treat, Saturday noon game between 2 of the worst 3 teams in the league. I would of thought that with Harris at home that the Nets would beat the Knicks easily. Then again, this is as much homecourt for the Knicks lol.

**** Nets, they are easily the worst team in the league. It doesn't matter though, as long as the Knicks are in the bottom 5, I"m a happy camper.

0-13? Are you freaking kidding me? The bright side is that they barely moved up, the Knicks just tied the Bobcats for 27th. Hopefully D'antoni being mad with Nate Robinson is more a good thing than a bad thing (for Jazz fans).

Damn Nets. Last thing we need is NY to get any type of self confidence or start believing that they are good. I really am baffled by their inability to get a win. They have the players to be much better than that, even with all the injuries.
