Chet’s defensive instincts are as natural as his offensive ones are awkward.

If this was my first introduction to him, I'd be really concerned, but last years summer league and his basketball career up to this point suggest he is just out of step right now. He needs to be playing in every one of these games to regain basketball rhythm.

Cason Wallace looks reaaallly good so far. Exactly what I expected. Great defensive activity, good shooting feel (two threes so far), and making the right passes and plays. Good activity on the offensive glass too.

Chet needs to not be the main focus of a team right now. In just the last couple moments he’s defended, rebounded, caught a lob, and hit an open three. Maybe he’ll be more than that some day but he doesn’t need to be more than that right now. He’ll look great if he just does those things.

Totally agree with that role for him right now. Ultimately what I don't want to see, is him doing a bunch of dribbling in half court sets.

Did Presti finally draft a 3&D guy? Wallace looks awesome on defense, and shooting the 3 well with good mechanics.

He’s slooooooooow. And taaaaaaall. And weeeeeaaaaaak. And cluuuuuuuuumsy. And all that looks real obvious when he’s trying to do spin moves in the paint. If he’s going to be putting the ball on the ground it needs to be in a straight line towards the basket. I kind of doubt all of the fancy dribbling is ever going to amount to anything. It’s too easy to pick a tall guy’s pocket. Other than Durant, what 7 footer has ever been able to do that kind of stuff?

As fast as NBA guys are, coaches need to work with Chet immediately and implement something like a two dribble rule. If Chet can't make his move with the ball in 2-3 dribbles (in a halfcourt situation), he needs to move the ball along.

In Presti's press conference about the draft he was calling him "Kah-SAHN" Wallace but everywhere else I've seen it pronounced KAY-son. Anyone know the correct way?

Joe mussatto had a tweet about it but Elon won’t let me look for free so someone else will have to share it.

Even when he makes shots, I don’t particularly enjoy watching Mann play.

Cason passing skill/shooting form was underrated. Size gonna be a problem though but if he can be good from 3, he will be fine.

I think a gunner could work in this system, but he needs to be decisive and good. Mann hasn’t been either of those things and sucks at defense.

If his shot isn’t falling he offer nothing else. His decision making is my biggest frustration with him.

Wallace was billed as a defense first guy, but he really has a pretty nice feel for the game running the point, orchestrating the offense. Not Chris Paul but he's way better than other defense first guys like Beverly and Davion Mitchell.

And it’s not just on offense. He always looks like he doesn’t know exactly where he’s supposed to be.

Sad part is that Mann is a really hard working kid (way more than Bazley) but his feel for the game is just terrible

He wasn't like this before the injury. I think it's going to take some time. I feel completely confident that he's smoother than this eventually.

I really didn’t watch him at Gonzaga. Even if the offense struggles, the things he does well defensively are going to be massively impactful for this team.

He just doesn't do much other than hunt his shot. He's clearly talented but some dudes just don't got what it takes to think beyond that.

Oh well. We've got a a million wings/guards so one bust isn't huge.

He randomly fell down last year too.

What utility is there in chet initiating the offense? Dragging the big away from the basket?
