Jamaica's Usain Bolt new world's fastest man

Post#1 » by vi3t » Sun Jun 1, 2008 5:34 am

NEW YORK - Like lightning out of nowhere, Usain Bolt is now the world's fastest man.

The Jamaican sprinter, who doesn't even consider the 100 metres his best race, set the world record Saturday night with a time of 9.72 seconds at the Reebok Grand Prix, .02 seconds faster than the old mark held by his countryman, Asafa Powell.

wow, Asafa Powell just set the previous world record of 9.74 secs and this happens and he's not even a 100m specialist, it's gonna be an interesting 100m battle in Beijing between Tyson Gay, Asafa Powell and Bolt assuming he's gonna be in it

Screw ESPN for not showing it on Saturday when it happened. It's gonna be shown tape delayed after the fact on network TV Sunday. Hate to have to say this, but if he is clean (and I actually think he is), that's new ground for mankind as far as I'm concerned. 9.72 is astounding. I heard he torched Tyson Gay, who ran a 9.85.

Bolt has been the absolute **** for the past 5 years. Him vs. Xavier Carter in the 200 will be the best race in the olympics this summer.

Haven't heard anythin bout Carter since his 19.63 timing, Gay is prob gonna run the 200m too and he ran the second fastest time ever with 19.62 but my money is on Bolt, anyways heres the vid to Bolt's record breaking win http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=MHMRuOXdN6I

I've grown away from the sport but based on pure talent those two guys are the best in the world. I've heard that Carter was dirty when he was running those disgusting 200s but if he was clean, he's insane.

In other track news, German Fernandez just ran the baddest HS double ever. 4:00.29 in the 1600 and 8:34 in the 3200 all alone. It's a shame that Chris Derrick got mono otherwise they'd show down for the greatest distance battle ever.
