TOMORROW (start 1PM ET)

Australia x China
Brasil x Lithuania (Preview of Olympics debut)

Wow, Brazil is playing very well. We will see how things go once it counts, but how great would it be to watch USA v Brazil in the finals? Australia has been disappointing thus far. I was expecting them to be the dark horse in the olympics.

I would love that. I have tickets to the Gold Medal Game. :D

But I don't think that's possible. Besides USA, I see Spain, Lithuania, Serbia and France clearly ahead of us at is point. Who knows...

Wow, I'm jealous. You never know. With the home crowd, they should have high expectations. Aim for 1st in group B. If you slip up, calculate it so you finish 3rd and avoid a match-up with team USA in quarters or semis. Once the knockout round starts, anything can happen.
Also, you don't have Andy "the curse" Varejao on your squad. Another reason to be hopeful.

If the "curse" is to finish in 2nd and, then, Silver Medal, I would take it.

But seriously, I think replacing Varejao with Felicio is actually an upgrade. Felicio just had a great summer league, already has better offensive game which Brasil needs badly and I think he has FIBA 3-point range which We also need. I would love to have both on the roster.

Nene, Splitter, Felicio and Varejao would be a heck of big men rotation.

This the last chance of this generation. Players like Huertas, Barbosa, Alex, Splitter, Nene and Varejao wont have another chance.

Alex Garcia (Bauru-BRA)
Marquinhos (Flamengo-BRA)
Guilherme Giovannoni (Brasilia-BRA)
Cristiano Felicio (Chicago Bulls)
Nenê (Houston Rockets)
Rafael Hettsheimeir (Bauru-BRA)
Augusto Lima (Real Madrid-SPA)

Out due to injury:
Thiago Splitter and Anderson Varejao

Is there anyone on this roster we don't know about in NBA circles who is pretty good? I know marquinos has been on that team forever, as well as Alex garcia. I'm not familiar with the other non-NBA players.

Maybe Augusto Lima and Rafael Hettsmeiher will have important role. They are 6'9" tô 6'11" and have a nice range.

To be honest, I dont know much about either.

Let's figure it out!

Serbia might be a real spoiler in this tournament.

Milos Teodosic is out of the Olympics? Injured last game against Argentina. If yes, huge blow to Serbia.

Brazil always had have an amazing froncourt...Nene-Varejao, then Splitter...and now Felicio seems like a Big prospect, while Lima may have some NBA future in 2 or 3 years...
It's a pitty that its backcourt it's clearly ahead of the level of their frontcourt.
But as a spaniard, I have always liked Marquinhos, great skill and shooting hability.
And...why isn't Cabloco and Nogueira on their roster???
When this account gets more "And1"s than posts written ...then my life will be complete. And maybe it will be the right time to hang it up. (Achieved on 2017-2018 season)...but still here.

I dont know. Especially nogueira. Its always important to have another rim proctor.

Caboclo is too raw.

By the way. What are you expecting from Spain?

Will you miss Marc Gasol?

Well, Argentina played good but in both games referees were so so bad. I get it, it's home crowd but they just created tension on both games.

Our "insiders" say that Teodosic will be ready for the tournament and it's nothing serious at all

End game. Australia 81-53 China.

China will be the worst team in Olympics.

Bogut played some minutes. Maybe will be ready for Rio '16.

I don't have any link. My source was a Brazilian journalist that just reported the injury. He didn't report that he'll be out of the Olympics. Hopefully he'll be ready.

Halftime:

Brasil 36 x 38 Lituania.

Both teams playing hard. I think there''ll be bad blood heading to Olympic debut.

Return to Olympics
