What the hell happened to you guys after that good start?

Spain took are soul. Valanciunas forgetting how to play basketball worth mentioning also.

Do you think that he could be picking up too many bad habits in the NBA?

A few years ago a friend from Lithuania told me that was his biggest fear for Motiejunas.

The University of Oregon football team has to be extremely jealous of these uniforms and this court.

the most impressive thing about this Australia team is that they regularly play the whole bench and you can barely see a difference in performance. There always seems to be someone ready to take over in offense, and anyone coming off the bench is a total pit bull in D. Great coaching too.

What ever do you mean? On court or off court?

Personally, I dont think that at all. NBA makes you better, playing against that level of competition constantly. Look at Scola and Bogdanovic after they inured to NBA talent, guys destroying these FIBA scrubs now.

Valanciunas is just a weird player. He has amazing finishing skills but not much moves per se. Guy is easy to figure out sometimes.

Valanciunas looked weak against Bogut. Like, physically weak.

After all these years and injuries, Bogut is still more Athletic than Valanciunas ever was. Have you see that alley oop?

I'm going to say less than five points.

And I'm not going in thinking that it is a sure thing that Team USA will win.

andrewww wrote:The American NBA stars will disagree but FIBA is so much better officiated namely less superstar calls, travels are actually enforced, and you dont get the feeling that the officials have a particular bias of wanting to extend a game (or more commonly extend series in the NBA playoffs, extend winning streaks for PR, etc).

I completely disagree. FIBA refs are brutal, letting players throw each other to the floor for rebounds without calling anything, then whistling fouls on marginal or phantom contact on other plays like minor bumps in transition. Incredibly random calls with no consistency. And some players still do get star calls like Pau Gasol, it's just less likely to be U.S. players because most of the refs are Euros. Also, the refs will bury anyone who talks back to them under a stream of fouls like what they did to DeMarcus Cousins.

As for travelling, it's established that the NBA rules are more lenient in this area than FIBA. I favour the NBA in this case as well because there are already too many stoppages in play and a stricter rule just leads to more of them and fewer and less spectacular dunks/layups.

yup. this Team USA has no chemistry and looks awful. The gold medal isn't even a lock at this point.

Piggy backing on what you are saying I absolutely love our coach Lemanis! I haven't watched a lot of NBL lately but whenever I do I always feel as though Lemanis has a talent for getting his teams to punch well above their weight class and he's more than proved it here at the Olympics. I seriously have never seen Mills and Andersen etc play so well at the international level. They are so efficient, so smooth like a well oiled machine. As you mentioned even when we go deep into our bench, nobody skips a beat. We've played suffocating defence and a beautifully unselfish offence.

Even when Lithuania went on a bit of a run in the third, nobody panicked, we just put our heads down and stayed the course, recovered quickly and re-took control once more. I couldn't be happier for the Boomers right now!

As for the rest of the predictions:
USA
Spain
Croatia. Yes I think Croatia is a little bit more talented than Serbia but could go either way.

People might think this statement is outlandish however I reckon Australia's offence is reminiscent of the Warriors offence. Mills and Delly have been scoring efficiently and nailing 3s in much the same way the Splash brothers do, Bogut is Bogut operating from the high post with some scintillating passes and except called upon to score a bit more and hasn't disappointed. Ingles has been our glue guy/playmaker, a bit like Iguodala. The movement off the ball and passing/assist numbers are second to none.

Australia got a ridiculous amount of layups and it's not as much as Lithuania's defense sucked, it's that Australia executes and moves the ball so well.

Rubio kills me. Navarro and Calderon's decline/absence is massive. Basically running two pass first non shooting guards at all times.

Lots of pressure on Niko and Rudy to make shots.

What the heck, I'm trying to watch this game on NBColympics.com and I get a screen saying this game Spain x France is restricted where I live ( USA )? This hasn't happened with any of the other games this tournament. Anyone else having this problem?
