They need Klay in the backcourt to make up for Kyrie's defense.
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

Lowry
Klay
Durant
Green
Cousins

Irving is suddenly way overrated and Lowry is too often underrated.

overrated...tf lmao. He already pretty much distroyed both Klay and Kyle Lowry, and hes loved by the head coach..hes 100% going to start, and hes probably gonna be the best player in the olympics, just like how he was the best player in FIBA.

Durant will start, that's kinda given. He and Melo have been two of the most dominant international players of the last decade for us.

They could have beefed up that select squad, I mean denzel valentine? the kid from UVA? bunch of rookies... I like some of the players but the select team last go round included: Kawhi, Klay, Kyrie, Cousins, John Wall, PG, DDR.

Other notes, i'm excited for 'old head melo' on this team, say what you what about his inefficiency, melo just seems like a cool guy/teammate. Someone thats easy to root for. I'm also excited for draymond to come off the bench and destroy other teams second units with his playmaking and hands.

You know who looked real good there off the select team was Myles Turner. Fast and shooting threes. The smallball center of Bird's aging dreams?

I think there is a real case for Butler starting over Klay, he has been amazing in the practices and scrimmages. It would not surprise me.

But man you can only start 2 of KD/Melo/George. What a predicament to have

DeAndre Jordan is more mobile on defense and the offense already has a ton of shoot first guys. So I expect him to start over Cousins TBH, unless they run complete small ball. Not to mention that Jordan is the better player probably.

I know Melo is great in international play but I dont think that will be the case this year. I can see the argument for Jordan starting over Cousins because they dont need Cousins scoring. But damn those 5 would just be filthy on offense

Because? The great competition that they will be facing? Because opposing teams will be able to shut Melo down but not anyone else (and we can't risk losing)? No one is beating the US. This is just a show.

Don't think Butler's gonna start. I see him more as a many position sub. He could play the 1-3 this Olympics, 1 mostly in the case of an injury to one of the PGs.

It's tough to predict the starters. My guess

Irving - Lowry - Butler
Thompson - Butler - DeRozan
Durant - George - Melo
Melo - Green - Faried - Durant/George
Cousins - Jordan - Green/Faried

Have u seen him play this season? He's garbage now. I think we all agree Barnes doesnt deserve a spot tho. Id love to see Devin Booker on there tbh

Cousins | Jordan
Melo | Green | Barnes
Durant | George
Klay | Butler | Demar
Kyrie | Lowry

That's how I'd run it though I wouldn't be opposed to DJ in the starting 5 either. Either way, with Kyrie breaking down the defenses, he'd have 3 best shooters to kick it out to who also all know how to swing the ball---- insane. That starting 5 would be too much to handle offensively early on. It'd be an onslaught right out the gates. Then you can come with a more physical, defensive lineup with great size and versatility? No chance for anyone else.

Return to Olympics
