USA vs. Nigeria Men's basketball friendly 8/1

Post#1 » by Mr. E » Mon Aug 1, 2016 1:23 am

After a rather sub-par effort against Venezuela, the US men's basketball team will play one final exhibition game against the FIBA Africa Zone champions, Nigeria.

The game will take place at Toyota Center in Houston, Texas at 7:00 PM CDT (-6 UTC) on August 1st.

Nigeria's starting lineup is expected to be:

PG - Ben Uzoh
SG - Chamberlain Oguchi
SF - Al-Farouq Aminu
PF - Ike Diogu
C - Festus Ezeli

We'll probably have to wait until closer to game time to know who the USA will use to start the game.

Thanks for holding down the Olympic basketball threads, Mr.E!

If people really wanted to discuss Olympic basketball on the General Board, it's not that hard to find it. All they have to do is look more closely because the thread post is at the top of the page.

I had hoped to attend the game tonight and post some things that I saw, but a personal matter came up and I was not even able to watch the game!

Hope to hear how they looked tonight.

The US hasn't faced a good (or even remotely capable) shooting team in their prep for Rio. Teams like Serbia, Lithuania, and Spain won't miss this many shots from behind the arc.

It's a shame Nigeria can't get their act together and afford to insure their NBA players contracts so they could put their best possible team on the court. That country has so much basketball potential but given the levels of corruption there it will probably never happen.
