As someone who respects and appreciates soccer, but is not a big fan (hence calling it soccer and not football or futbal ) I am curious how seriously soccer fans regard the Olympics.
Obviously winning an Olympic Gold Medal is not up there with the World Cup, let's establish my baseline of understanding there. But how seriously do soccer fans take the Olympics in relation to other national tournaments, or even professional club championships?

Irrelevant, really. It makes no sense.
