^Fed took his eye off it for a couple of points, and Murray capitalized. Fed looks pissed, whipping shots back to hold in beginning of 2nd set.

Federer is sooo close to breaking him but Murray keeps on winning those important ones, frustrating lol.

Roger need to cut the unforced errors out of his game and he will be fine. Murray's serve is pretty good so far..........

Wow that call by the linesman was such bull, total momentum killer for Federer.
This break goes on the refs.

If Fed can somehow get the second it may get him playing looser.

Wow. This is a great match.

Tennis is a fascinating sport. It's true you can say that the guy playing better on the big points has won each of the first 2 sets today. However, the big points exist because of tennis' peculiar hyper-clutch/luck-inducing scoring system.

In reality,
Federer played better throughout the first set, which Murray won.
Murray played better throughout the second set, which Fededer won.

Amazing.

GREY 1769 wrote:I understand the complexities fine, it was just a summation. The best overall player up to that point was Novak. Fed is the superior/far more experienced grass player. Closed roof conditions favoured Novak. Johhny Mac said so. Commentators also mentioned that the difference in humidity closed/open roof was slight, but I think depending on the conditions the open roof had potential to make court more damp, especially of course if the ever present clouds were hovering. I'll go with their expert opinions, but thanks for taking the time break it down.

Murray off to a hot, adrenalin-induced start. Really took it to Fed who looked nervous. Fed slowed it down with slices, making Murray generate his own pace. And the seesaw continues with Fed almost breaking Andy, only to be broken himself. My heart can't take this!

You have to be careful with going too much by one guy you think is an expert. Fed himself said he thought in retrospect the conditions helped him, so clearly, one expert is wrong.

To be clear: I'm not saying that closing the roof inherently gave Fed an advantage, and certainly if they had kept it open while it was wet outside, that would have probably given Fed an even bigger advantage...until they'd have to stop play. (which of course is exactly what eventually happened to halt Djokovic's come back at the French)

The advantage of the roof was that when the sun came out, it didn't dry off the court because it was there was a roof in the way.

But hey, I'll say again. I could be wrong. These things, even the experts only seem to be able to guess. All I really know is that the play yesterday felt ridiculously fast compared to a typical Wimbledon day, and that it makes sense to me because I know how grass can get when its a bit wet.

so the Aussie commentators are absolutely jocking Ivan Lendl (Murray's coach) like no other. is this happening o/s? literally every game they are talking about him.

edit: rain no good for Rog, IMO, had him on the ropes. fugg

Federer and his older legs can use the rest, come out, win a point and put Murray under the pressure of holding serve.

Why no roof though?

That blows. Espn's commentary has been solid with the MacEnroe brothers.

yeah, and they keep showing shots of Johnny Mac in the booth as well! our guys suck. John comes out here for the Aust. Open. i've liked Patrick a lot, too, when i've heard him. maybe i'll see if i can find a decent quality stream.
