I know that he retired because of injury but I seem to recall that he only played a few games in a two year period and that allowed the team to do something to get him off their cap. Is that true?
I'm curious because the Wizards Etan Thomas had open heart surgery earlier this year and I'm trying to see if there's a way the Wiz can get him off their cap if he's not able to come back.
Thanks!

It used to be two years, but in the most recent agreement is when I believe they changed it to one.
