2023-2024 mid season draft R1 - MadNESS vs Laimbeer (MadNESS advances)

Post#1 » by Dr Positivity » Sun Feb 25, 2024 7:33 am

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

**First to 3 votes advances**

WRITE UP:

Goodluck Laimbeer. KD and Giannis will be fun.

Giannis will see some KD and some Vandy. Vandy can guard anyone effectively. He once guarded Curry down the stretch of big games. KD will stay in front of him. We will not send doubles and we will stay home on the shooters around Giannis.

I believe my length of my team will prevail here. We have long defenders at every location in the line up. Even if Giannis gets to the rim, he will have Wemby's long arms blocking shots (league leader).

I am not a crazy stat guy, but I am an eye test guy. My eyes show me Wemby is a baller, and the rest of the Spurs just suck (hence why no one else was drafted). 20/10/3.2 is nasty. The kid has it all. Give Wemby a line up like mine - KD, Murray, Draymond, Klay, etc. He becomes flawless.

My question is how does old man Harden defend Murray? How does Giannis guard KD for 40 minutes and be the main offensive producer? I have plenty of guys who can score if KD gets locked up.

I feel like I have assembled the best line up in this draft. I feel like I can beat any team in this group.

Giannis is best at PF, and hasn't played SF since his rookie season realistically.

Vote Ness, for fit.

Chet Holmgren ( 2024 ) 11.8
Kristaps Porziņģis ( 2024 ) 12.8
Giannis Antetokounmpo ( 2024 ) 18.8
Desmond Bane ( 2024 ) 18.8
James Harden ( 2024 ) 11.4

Marcus Morris ( 2024 ) 5.5
Matisse Thybulle ( 2024 ) 4.8
Delon Wright ( 2024 ) 3.7

87.6 / 88.0 87.6

Chet Holmgren (36) / Kristaps Porziņģis (12)
Kristaps Porziņģis (24) / Marcus Morris (24)
Giannis Antetokounmpo (38) / Matisse Thybulle (10)
Desmond Bane (38) / Matisse Thybulle (10)
James Harden (38) / Delon Wright (10)

Good luck, Ness.

We'll thrive around Giannis offensively with a ton of shooting. Harden can take some of the playmaking duties in the halfcourt and combine with Giannis for a lethal pick and roll game. They have excellent defense, but keeping them spread out is key.

Giannis, Zinger, and Chet all rate in the top ten for DPOY odds at this point. It's a scary amount of length and defensive ability and they have exactly the kind of lineup that allows us to take advantage. Wemby isn't a three point shooter yet and we'll dare Green to try and keep up his outlier season. That means Chet (Draymond) and Zinger(Wemby) can play help D. Giannis' length should give KD some trouble. Bane is solid on Klay and Harden(Murray) will benfit greatly from the help mentioned above.

Lots of length and ability in what would be a fun one, but spacing and spreading out the opponent is particularly important here and we have that advantage.

Don't like Giannis and Chet playing a position down in a current season game, and the Harden fit isn't clear to me either. Ness has a more coherent team, and Murray is the type of PG who can work well with Draymond.

I agree MadNESS makes more sense than Giannis/Porzingis/Holmgren, not to mention I'm not sure about Harden and Giannis together, Draymond/Wemby could be pretty scary on defense and Durant should have a strong series. Both benches are poor. Vote MadNESS

Vote Madness here. I like the overall build and I think the fit is really good.

I dont like that front court trio on laimbeers team as it is 1 bigman too many.

Both teams are very talented. Fit-wise, I'm not a fan of Porzingis at PF. He's a hopeless perimeter defender. No way he can follow Wemby/KD on the perimeter. With the amount of switching in the modern game, everybody defends basically everybody. Harden and Giannis isn't a clean fit either. Both need the ball in their hands to maximize their effectiveness.
