I also considered the “other” Mavs core- 2003.

Experience tells me that the younger versions of Nash and Dirk aren’t all that well regarded though. Heck, even when I pair prime versions I usually get shafted.

I wasn’t wild about being forced to spend over 17 FGA on Michael Finley though, and it made the group collectively too expensive.

Just realized that Dr P didn't take the starting center from the championship Raptors, I just assumed that he had

In any case, love the fit of Odom with the rest of that team

Yeah, I was surprised by that.

Yeah, I was surprised by that.

He didn't play half the games for Raptors

That'll do it

I would have taken the Raptors core in R1 had Gasol been available.

Yeah with Gasol I think it’d be a core worth taking over the Bucks that went 2nd

Yeah that’s an elite core with Gasol. 100 percent.

Also perfect in this pool. It’s easier to add to a team that already has a completed front court and only needs perimeter help in this pool. The best wild cards (both All Star and not) are pretty much all perimeter guys.

Gasol has a first team selection so the only way he was getting into this game is if someone chose the Grizzlies core or for some reason chose the Lakers post-title.

I certainly did think about doing Grit-n-Grind-n-Jimmy Buckets but thought I'd be a little light on offense overall

Yeah that core wasn’t good enough.

Also think the early 2010s was the last moment in time where a front court like 2012 Gasol with Zach Randolph could be viable.

I was seriously eyeing Vince Carter in case I wasn't getting Ray Allen. He's expensive but getting good supporting cast here is not an issue. Surprised a bit he wasn't fetched
