Post#1 » by Fadeaway_J » Fri Apr 26, 2024 11:25 pm

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Please ensure you give a rationale for your vote; votes with no explanation will not be counted.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

**First to 3 votes advances.**

SF: Tatum (38) / McDermott (10)
PF: Bam (38) / McDermott (10)
C: Porzingis (38) / Kornet (10)

87.8/88

Lets go with
Conley on FVV
Tatum on Ant
Booker on george
Bam in Giannis
Porzingis on Horford

I have defense where it is needed here, bams versatility will work excellently against giannis, tatum has all the tools to defend and and the others can hold their own. KP and Bam make a front court with rim protection on defense on the wings with each having a roll here.

Offensively I have a lot of 3 level scorers and a multiple guys capable of creating offense for themselves or others. Overall very efficient offense with great spacing. Will most likely run spread pick and roll on offense with KP and Conley spreading the floor although will also runnoick and pops with KP.

Best of luck, Larry!

Rotations
PG: Fred VanVleet (38) / Jordan McLaughlin (10)
SG: Anthony Edwards (38) / Keon Ellis (10)
SF: Paul George (38) / Keon Ellis (10)
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo (22) / Jonathan Isaac (26)
C: Al Horford (32) / Giannis Antetokounmpo (16)

Offense
Giannis and Ant are options #1A and #1B respectively. George is option #2. Everybody else spreads the floor. FVV and Horford provide secondary shot creation. Giannis surrounded by reliable 3pt shooters should be unguardable. A few words on Keon Ellis since he's untested in our games. He became a starter for the Kings after Kevin Huerter suffered a season-ending injury. Never looked back ever since. Started in both of their play-in games. He's 41.7% 3pt shooter on 72.4% 3PAr and a terrific defender recording a DBPM of +2.1.

Defense
Giannis may roam, drop, switch or fight through. FVV and McLaughlin are my conventional on-ball defenders. They go over / fight through the pick forcing the ball handler to put the ball on the floor and either take the long 2 of the dribble or attack the basket against Horford/Giannis/Isaac. I'd expect Book and Tatum to play a lot on the ball meaning my wings will also take up POA duties. Horford may drop or switch depending on whether my POA defender is a guard or a wing. All players on the roster are plus defenders, to say the least. Giannis is a former DPOY. Isaac led the league in Defensive Estimated Plus Minus this season.

FGA
Giannis Antetokounmpo 18.8 Image
Paul George 16.7 Image
Anthony Edwards 19.7 Image
Al Horford 6.4
Jonathan Isaac 4.9
Jordan McLaughlin 3.0
Keon Ellis 4.1
Fred VanVleet 13.9

Total: 87.5

This is a tough play-in game, I think both of these teams are pretty strong.

Neither team has particularly impressive depth, and both have solid and well fitting starting lineups. I'm normally iffy on FVV in these but this seems like a situation where his role will be roughly the size it ought to be.

Horford isn't a particularly strong starter anymore but I think he's "enough" here as a 5th starter, and I trust his star core JUST a tad more.

Not really a fan of Bam at the 4 here (or it general). It basically negates a lot of the spacing advantage you get from having Porzingis at the 5. In this matchup, it allows Giannis to play his preferred roaming role without having to worry about his man banging threes.

Giannis in this pool is a pretty major advantage and I like flaco's build around him. Both benches are cheap, but Ellis and especially Isaac are players I see as being helpful at this level, while McDermott to me is too flammable defensively and Kornet is a deep bench guy. I'd also like to see a bit more dynamism from the PG spot than 2024 Conley and Dunn.

Very tough draw. Giannis is the best player here and overall I go with Flaco's talent a bit more.
