Maybe he is going to be a regular season guy that gets you into the playoffs... but not a playoff guy?

Okay, small sample size against one team.

Plus a few years with the Wiz where he did not move the needle on wins and losses. I'm looking forward to see if #26 gets us a good return on the swap.

Kenny Smith just described the Zard’s team defense issues perfectly
after MIA’s W in BOS tonight. Lazy was summary word (and accurate) but the more
lengthy description was perfect. Gawd I hope they miss.

I am enjoying watching the smooth-running offense of the Sixers vs Knicks match-up, such a contrast to watch team hoops.

Orlando with a blowout win. Suggs had 24 points on 11 shots. Wagner with 16-8-5 on 12 shots.

It would be fun to re-visit the offseason conversations from a few years ago, comparing a couple of free agent PGs: Tyus Jones and Jalen Brunson.

3 Nova guys going against the OG Nova guy.

2 raptors going against one another (Lowry and OG)

2 Wizards going against one another (Bojan and Oubre)

I don't recall any conversations comparing them because they weren't available in the same summer.

I'm really not enjoying watching Embiid flop on every possession and somehow get the call. He is rapidly becoming one of my least favorite players. He's like Chris Paul, gaming the system rather than actually playing basketball. 21 free throws last night.

Yes they were, and there was an extensive amount of conversations on this board comparing the two. Brunson was a RFA that was clearly available via S&T

Board consensus was Tyus Jones at MLE was a better value than Brunson at 18-20 million LOL

My bad. You're right. I was thinking about Tyus changing teams this summer while Brunson changed teams the prior summer, but that's right, Tyus was a free agent two summers ago and resigned with Memphis.

Turns out Jones really was just an easy to acquire backup PG and Brunson was a future first option superstar on a playoff team.

I wonder what a Brunson/Beal/Avdija/Porzingis core could’ve accomplished?

With Beal's contract creating resulting in a probable awful bench, the assumed eh coaching staff, and Porzingis not really being someone I'd bet on long term (but do believe in him in the near term), I can't say I'd prefer it over building something longer lasting.

It's an interesting scenario. I think they would have some pretty big problems defensively though. Porzingis can protect the rim, but he can't really erase mistakes for weak defensive guards. Brunson is undersized and Beal lost the will to play hard defense years ago.

They would probably have contended with Indiana and Orlando in that 4-6 range. But if it was enough to convince Porzingis to resign, at least would have him as a trade asset if we ever decided to blow things up.

Definitely not preferred, but would’ve been interesting. Still would’ve had the 2023 1st round pick(wouldn’t have been as high as #8) and Kispert as trade chips, and Gafford at backup C.

They would’ve had a few legit chances to win/compete in the east I think.

Funny enough I think Beal played his best defensively in years this season. Not saying a lot but when I watched Suns games down the stretch, he was putting more effort and intensity there.

Franz has had a terrible 3-point shooting slump all season which has masked his continued improvement across the board in everything else. His per minute points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks are all up. His per minute turnovers down. His 2P% and FT% up.
