Huge missed opportunity in Game 1. An excellent high level playoff game.

Agree with your overall take. Big missed opportunity and a great playoff
game except for the late game miscues for the Mystics.

EDD was outstanding.

A couple missed bunnies...Austin is outstanding too but definitely has to improve
her FTs.

They got off too a great start but let them regroup by not protecting the ball well enough.

They showed they could win but their level of execution was just a smidge too low to
beat a very good team at home in a playoff game.
It really did come down to the execution at the end jim.

It was a very good watch, exciting game!

SEA was way more resourceful in Gm 2. Every time WAS would start to gain a little
mo, SEA would come up with a play or 2 of their own to stem the tide. Tina Charles
was a major difference maker. I guess I will just have to wait until next year to see
a Mystics game. Until then, I'll keep my fingers crossed for a little luck in the lottery.
In does seem like that was a great trade last year to acquire a pick while moving down 2 spots.

They messed up in the draft two years ago going all in on Tina Charles.

I wonder if the reason Meeseman didn't stay with Washington didn't have something to do with Tina Charles, who turned out to be a one-year rental.

I really like Shakira Austin but I think this team was really missing a legitimate 2nd option scorer. Rhyne Howard, while not super efficient, can go get a bucket.

If I were the Mystics, I would have let Hines-Allen go, kept Tina Charles, and drafted Howard.

Cloud
Atkins
Howard
EDD
Charles

That probably wins you another title.

Who are the likely targets for their lotto pick? I guess we won't have any idea until
the lottery actually happens but this is the PIF method of team building (sorta)
although I don't recall him ever saying trade the #1 overall. Still it could work out
very nicely. Get lucky with the drawing or get lucky with the pick.

Did the Mystics just trade the number 4 pick for 2025 first rounder and 2024 2nd rounder?

I don't follow the mystics but this seems nuts but there are only 12 picks in 1st round

But Ted shouldn't own basketball teams

Working theory is that Brueckers and Clark might stay an extra year and would be eligible for the 2025 draft.

Yup. Might be rumblings that the generational players use the COVID year as the reason to stay an extra year.

It's the kind of risky, all-in type of move that the Wiz never make. I don't think there was anyone at #4 who was a difference maker.

However, I'm confused about why they deferred it two years. Clark will leave next year as will Bueckers, I believe.

My guess is that they end up with, a mid second round next year and the 7th pick in 2025... so, the upside -- a lotto pick when Clark or Bueckers is available -- is really high, but the downside is pretty bad too. With small rosters in the WNBA, many if not most 2nd and 3rd rounders don't make the team.

Alot of people believe Clark/Bueckers will use the extra eligibility granted because of the Covid year.

12-13 record. 15 games to go. Delle Donne and Austin need to get healthy in a hurry or this season is effectively over.

Not having their 2 best players is clearly something they are struggling to overcome.
I wonder if EDD can recover her health to the point where she can be expected to
play in 75-80% of the games. I hope so.

Luckily for EDD its a sprained ankle and not her back. In hindsight, she probably shouldn't have played in the game in CT before the All Star break where she re-aggravated the injury.

Went to the game last night. My daughter has a partial season ticket plan and was out of town
so I went with my son. My first time at the ESA. It was fun and they held on, just barely, for a win.
No EDD or Austin except in street clothes. FWIW (which ain't much) Austin looked super hot in the
pants she was wearing. Oh my. Any win they can get without those 2 available is a good win.

...also no two-time WNBA all-star Ariel Atkins, a great two-way player and my favorite Mystic.

The son Thibault is not it.

All season long the execution in the clutch was bad.

So many winnable games. Even with the injuries to Austin, Atkins, Delle Donne, Toliver.

Disappointing season.
