Another Wizard having BIG SUCCESS away from the Wizards.

Gafford is just a bench player that will get limited minutes in the playoffs. He’s a terrible pick and roll defender and he can’t shoot, two critical skills that bugs need in order to succeed in the playoffs. Dunkers spot big men usually get played off the court.

You’ll see once the Mavs play that guy in Denver or even the guy in Houston. He gets owned by even the slightest offensively talented big man. It’s why he comes off the bench.

Since Jan !st ,Rui Hachimura the 1st Wizard dumped for Kendrick (Who) Nunn and 3 2nd rounders has shot 57.3 percent FG (141/246) and shot 45.1 percent 3's (42/93) in 31 mpg and 13 ppg for the Lakers. Not bad for a low BBIQ player by this forums take on him.

I'm still not feeling any regret.

On a per possession basis, his scoring is down 10%, his passing is down 15% and his rebounding is down 20% from his last season here in Washington. Yes, his efficiency is up, which is nice, but that's exactly what one should expect from a guy sharing the front court with Lebron and Davis. His usage is lower, but thanks to the luxury of only having to take open shots, his efficiency is up. The advance metrics say his performance is the same as it was with us. His BPM and VORP are the same. His PER is slightly down. His WS/48 is slightly up.

He is a useful rotation player getting paid a bit more than he is probably worth. I'd still rather have the 3 SRP's and the cap room. It's that cap room that allowed us to absorb Bagley's 2024-25 salary. So in effect, we traded Rui for Bagley and 5 SRP's including that really good Detroit one in 2025. And Bagley alone has been more productive than Rui (when healthy, at least).

Otto is officially retired:

A somewhat polarizing player around here, but I was always a fan. Always loved the way he finished on the break after being set up by a speeding John Wall. Had a few really effective years, but his body definitely prevented him from having a bigger impact in the league. Also for some strange reason, Scott Brooks appeared to hate him. No idea why. But anyway, congrats to Otto on a career that included an NBA championship and that netted him $134M.

Are we sure we are owed Detroit's 2nd rounder in 2025? Per RealGM "NBA Future Drafts Detailed" it's not that clear...

2025 second round draft picks from Golden State and / or another (incl. less favorable of this and Washington)
Washington will receive the less favorable of its 2025 2nd round pick and Golden State's 2025 2nd round pick; Boston will receive the Washington pick, the Golden State pick, Dallas' 2025 2nd round pick if conveyable, or Detroit's 2025 2nd round pick protected for selections 56-59; Dallas may receive, and Washington may receive an additional, one of the four (via Detroit to L.A. Clippers to Portland to Detroit; via Detroit's right to swap Golden State for Washington (via Brooklyn); via Boston's right to swap Detroit, Golden State or Washington for Dallas; via Detroit to Washington) [Brooklyn-Golden State, 7/7/2019; Brooklyn-Detroit-L.A. Scenario A is sure to play out with the WAS SRP being more favorable than the GSW SRP. So we are getting the less favorable of the WAS SRP or the DET SRP.

Another Wizard having BIG SUCCESS away from the Wizards.
Bobby Portis just put up 31 points and 10 rebounds. "It's just so nice to have good teammates and coaches who believe in you".

Nate, not to single you out, but I believe you had a lot of negative feelings about Portis when he was a Wizards player.

Gafford is going to be better at 30 than he is right now.

Since people love coming in here and only posting when former players have good games, I thought I'd come by and drop Beal's performance in a loss to a Wemby-less Spurs team:

30 min, 4-11 fg (1-4 3FG) for 9 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds for Mr. $50M.

He's been pretty paltry in his last 4 games, as well.

I guess Beal is their point guard over the last 4 games. Suns fans seemed to have been happy with his contribution prior to the last game.

Also left the game in the Suns loss with a finger injury.
