He had 5 turnovers and 1 assist, and is listed as a point guard.

A 19 y/o rookie playing season-high minutes, he also got 4 steals. It was a good night for him, and he played up to his draft position.

Home run pick at 19.

Absolutely! & you called it.

How many point guards posted a 45% TS and a 3/2 A/TO ratio through their first 700 minutes in the NBA, and went on to become all star level players?

Not sure. Westbrook had a TS% at around 49% with a 8.2 assists with close to a 3:2 assist to turnover ratio.

Jason Kidd had a TS% of 47% but his assist to turnover ratio was close to 3 to 1 although he was 21 years old.

That being said, I don't really hold any Scoot stock, didn't jump out to me when the Go Go played against him although he is looking better over the last few games.

This is definitely a concern. Guards usually aren't taken this high in the draft and when they do, if they're not pretty good right away, it's often a problem. There are a whole lot of Brandon Knights, Dion Waiters, Markelle Fultzs of the league who looked bad pretty early and never really got much better.

There are a couple of examples of guys with rough starts that panned out pretty well:

De'Aaron Fox posted literally exactly these numbers early in his career. In his first 26 games (689 minutes) he posted a TS% of .451 and an A/TO ratio of 1.67 (exactly 3/2).

Kemba Walker posted a TS% of .460 and a 1.8 A/TO ratio over his first 750 minutes.

Darius Garland posted a TS% of .472 and an awful 1.1 A/TO ratio in his first 650 minutes.

None of these 3 guys made a massive improvement over the second half of their rookie season either. They just put in the work in the offseason and came back in the following season looking much better. The bottom line is: if a guy can get to the rim, it's probably not a good idea to give up on him too early.

Updated rookie ladder. Bilal no longer in the top 10 (although maybe it is because he plays for the Wizards). He's had a rough last week 6.4 pg with 34/29/67 splits in his last 10 - maybe he's due for a rebound.

True!
Still... you have to give Charlotte's 3-point win to the bench -- they turned 15 FGAs & 4 FTAs into 32 points (95.5% TS%) to get the team a 3-point win: wow...!

He's a nice grab at pick #20. I'm just not impressed with the ast/turn.

This is why I cooled on him with our pick last year. As I said then, Jaylon Brown.
But unless he becomes a plus defender, how value is a guy that doesnt seem to add much else offensively

Whitmore is 19 so lots of room to grow. He has the right coach in Udoka to help him grow into a defender. Yes he has flaws although it looks like he was undervalued like most Villanova guys.

Henderson over the Thompson twins is brutal.

Same goes for Taylor Hendricks over Lively.

Podziemski still looks like one of the 5 best players in the class. Such a steal at 19.
