A post from a Chicago fan on the trade board discusses a Kuzma + #52 for Ball plus #11 swap. That would work out nicely.

I'd probably follow up by trying to trade out of our #26 pick in exchange for a 2025 pick in the same range. I don't want to try and develop 3 rookies plus Bilal and Vukcevic at the same time. Dallas doesn't have a 2024 pick in this draft and they have a tradeable 2025 pick. They'd probably do that.

The end result is that we would pick #1-5 and at #11 in this draft, and then pick #1-5 and #25-ish in the 2025 draft. And Kuzma being gone would probably accelerate the development of Avdija a bit.

I'd make that Kuz swap, then tank one more year for Cooper Flagg. And sure, trade that 26 pick for a pick next year, the year after, or maybe push it further out if needed.

Does Cleveland have nothing left to trade for Kuz? They could use him, but I think Utah owns all their picks from the Mitchell trade. Maybe they go all in for Kuz to try to get Mitchell to resign there.
Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot?

Here's an idea - instead of Jokic, we should trade for Anthony Edwards. We could use him at guard.

There was a 4 team trade idea on BR, IDK it had Mitchell going to Miami, Butler to Philly. Anyway, the Wizards were involved. Thoughts on this return?

Kuzma goes to Miami. Wizards receive Jovic, Paul Reed, Ty Jerome, 2024 16th pick, Philly's 2026 FRP and a $23 million TPE.

That’s an insane haul. No way we get a solid young player (Jovic) plus multiple 1sts for Kuzma.

Best of the trade scenarios thus far. Then in 2025, you see if you can move up slightly from #25 to #20 or so?

That would give us 4 picks on two years, nice.

The floor on a Kuzma return is 2 FRPs. I'm not taking anything less. It's a great contract for a productive player.

The most encouraging part is that this was proposed by an actual (albeit lower-tier) NBA journalist/columnist. It reinforces the idea that Kuzma has real value in the league. Bobby Marks also pretty consistently hypes Kuzma's value.

It's relevant because all the spreadsheet jockey's on the Trade Board consistently poo-poo Kuzma as literally a negative value player.

Well, that would be absolutely great return for Kuz. I find it hard to believe that we could do that well, but if so... grab it!

:)
Didn't we just about take 1 FRP for him? From Dallas? Turned it down as a courtesy to Kuz who didn't want to go there for some reason...?

For sure, the declining contract will make him more & more appealing to teams over the next year or so....

It's unclear whether it was 1 FRP or 2. There are some rumors that it was merely the PJ Washington offer, and others say the offer for Kuzma was the same as the offers for BOTH PJ Washington and Daniel Gafford combined.

Aaah.

In any case, when we trade him we'll take the best offer we can get, as in any other trade.

It’s a decent contract for an average player. I bet the floor is more like 1 mid FRP+B tier prospect.

Jovic is a 20 year old former 1st round pick averaging 14 points 7.7 rebounds 3.6 assists per 36 on 58% TS. Was just starting on a playoff team. He’s closer to an A-level Deni Avdija type prospect.

2024 16th overall+2025 late 1st+Jovic is a huge overpay.

I really hope Winger consulting with Kuzma over being traded to DAL was a one time thing. Kuzma just opened a restaurant and cafe in the area, he's acting like he's going to retire here.

Jalen Smith is a really good player if given the chance. He's been stuck behind Pascal Siakim, Myles Turner, and Obi Toppin.

Jalen Smith has one year remaining on his player option with the Pacers.

Is there any way the Wizards could trade for him?
Bye bye Beal.

While on the subject of former Terrapins, it's nice to see Aaron Wiggins succeeding with OKC. He's a 3 and D specialist like Danny Green.

I remember being confident in his NBA chances while others had doubts. I think Wiggins is on par with Kispert.

Right now, in terms of current production (i.e. '23-24 season), Aaron Wiggins is substantially ahead of Kispert!

Kispert posted a 62% TS%, which is terrific -- but Wiggins posted 66.4%

Biggest difference between them is that Wiggins is way ahead of Kispert in steals & offensive boards.

OTOH, Wiggins played 1200+ minutes compared to Kispert's 2000+. No doubt more minutes vs. substitutes.

In any case, Aaron Wiggins is a very good young player.

And here I am tempted to suggest moving Kuz to win now teams in the lottery like Houston in Memphis to land another prospect

Read on Twitter

Would you trade Kuzma for #17 plus Gabe Vincent and Jarred Vanderbilt?

I probably would if we drafted Holland or Buzelis just to clear up roster room. But if we draft a wing or center, I'd probably hold out for a better Kuzma offer.
