Ewing has zero chance, but I'd love to see HIM take Taps job, he could be Player Development/Special Assistant working with the bigs.

Ewing coming here as head coach or assistent would make Javale a STUD.

He has a good resume with Dwight Howard, the guy Javale is compared to athletically

Ewing wouldn't take that position. From all reports, he wants to be a head coach.

He says that Crittenton can't run a team...but he's comfortable with Mike James as his backup point guard?

Mike James sucks.

But with a healthy roster, playing behind Gil (what 10-15 mins a night tops?) and mostly against backups he'd be fine. Hopefully by the time James' deal expires, Crit can step in and do what the coaches are looking for.

Ewing i would not mind him as a big man coach so he could help developed our big guys .... but as a head coach i dont know … maybe a assistant head coach ... would be nice too have him around if he could help Javale like he helped Howard bulk up Blatch too

my dream would be

Tom Thibodeau - head coach
Patrick Ewing - assistant head coach / bigman coach
Dave hoopla - shooting coach
nice

I was not impressed with his previous run with the Wizards, BUT as the rules for traveling are changing. Maybe he can pass on that cheating/traveling ball spin he did all the time.

Another 3-4 step guy.

He's got to be better than FLUSH TAP.

IBTL, this was already discussed in the coaches thread.

IBTM. I'm going to take a wild guess and say that Abe won't be hiring Pat Ewing. Courtesy of Bill Simmons' account of the Gold Club trial:

What were the two greatest moments of the trial that involved Patrick Ewing?
1. Ex club-manager Deborah Pinson testified that she inadvertently walked into a room where a dancer was performing oral sex on Ewing. When she complained to Kaplan, he allegedly called her stupid and added, "These are my friends. You won't be complaining when we're sitting in the front row of Madison Square Garden."

(So that's how you get into the front row at MSG, huh?)

2. Ewing testified that he received complimentary VIP rooms, dancers and sexual favors on two separate occasions -- both times he received oral sex while Kaplan and Sicignano looked on (yukkkk). According to Ewing, "The girls danced, started fondling me, I got aroused, they performed oral sex. I hung around a little bit and talked to them, then I left."

(I've said it before, I'll say it again: the NBA ... It's FANNNNNNNN-tastic! I love this game!)

I'm not sold on Ewing as a head coach candidate (I say this as a guy who once idolized him). I see where he'd be a good choice as mentor/asst coach for the young bigs, his personality to me doesn't convey "head coach." If developing our young bigs is part of the equation, I'd prefer a guy like Dave Cowens, a guy with some actual head coaching experience (including, iirc, a couple of very successful seasons with the Hornets).

is Cowens working for anyone now?

If not, then he's not the choice. Because they'd simply hire him now
if they could.

I'm betting the reason Mum's the word is because whoever it is is
currently working for another team.

I believe Cowens is on the Pistons staff presently.

It's about time EG got off of his butt and got smart about who our new head coach will be.

I've started a petition to pressure EG into hiring Laron Profit to be our new head coach.

http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/Profit4coach/

Please link into the petition above and help bring Laron home.

Profit with Profit!!

EG would never hire Profit because Profit would be sure to take his job. Profit would swiftly rise to Coach/GM/President of Operations/Owner/League Commissioner and hold all jobs at once.

Please, Pine. If Profit wants the job, he's just going to take it, whether it's offered to him or not. EG has no say in the matter.

Isn't Laron Profit rather busy diverting killer asteroids from Earth's orbit?
