How does St. Louis make the fill in for Crosby over Semin or Backstrom. Also I believe Backie should of said I'm not playing in the young guns game because I'm an all star bitches.

As long as we're updating this thread - AO scored his 200th goal in the 5-4 loss to the Kings. 5th fastest player to 200 (Gretzky, Lemiuex, Brett Hull and Mike Bossy are the only ones ahead of him on pace). I think the other 4 all played during a higher-scoring era. At least Gretzky, Hull and Lemiuex did.

Best forward and best dman in the league now belong on the Capitals.

Green is absolutely ridiculous. I'd hate on him in the past for being poo on the defensive end, but man he's playing good D AND scoring at an astronomical rate. More than a point per game from a defenseman is crazy!

on the other hand, I have my fingers crossed that both Schultz and Morrison are gone next year. Terrible players.

Not "easily". Green has closed down gap. What you have to factor in is potential. Green is only in his second full season.

If he progresses as he should, he's going to end up as a legendary player.

Green breaks the record last night. He's been the highest scoring player since the All Star break and is top 10 in PPG and top 5 in +/-.

Caps beat the Panthers 4-2. Ovechkin with a hat trick and now has 41 goals. I caught the last 5 minutes of the game, empty net goal from his own blue line.

That was an amazing display from Ovie in crunch time. He scored on what seemed like a 1 on 3 with 3 minutes left to put the Caps up 3-2. And then did a backhand flip over a couple of defenders sticks from his own zone and banked the shot off the post for the empty netter and the hat-trick.

Ovie has 41 goals and leads that category by 7. I dont' see him not hitting 60 at this point. It's pretty amazing that 60 doesn't even sound like a big number from him even with the slow start.

Also Green has 22 goals which is 8 goals ahead of the second closest defender and he has one of the top +/- in the league so I can't see how you can't have him high up in the running for best defender this season?

How unusual and uplifting is it to know that, as a fan, we have the best player in a major sports league playing on our home team in Ovechkin? How often has that happened in this area in the last 30 years?

Yup. Not only do we have Ovechkin, but Green and Backstrom are becoming elite players too and Semin is another guy who can hit 100 points if he stays healthy. Having three 100 point players on the same line is ridiculous.

Backstrom is only 5 assists behind Crosby with two games in hand :lol:

What is amazing is that for the next two months, all the Caps really have to play for is whether or not they're the 2 or 3 seed. No way FLA is catching them, and we probably can't catch Boston.
