But if he doesn't come back until Saturday, that's *counts on fingers* four. One more because he wants to play in Cleveland. So five games.

So this is what the season has come down to for me, counting how many games Arenas will play in and hoping we don't risk winning too many games.

Not a very high risk I guess. Maybe Caron can arrange to stay injured.

Just for pride it would be nice to see BH come back so we don't get abused underneath as much.
Help us, Obi-wan Leonsis. You're our only hope.

I am both excited and horrified by the return of Gil this Saturday... excited cause, hey, here's our $100mil man, finally on the court.

Horrified by the concept of Taps playing him 42mpg (since Gil wants to start...)

Remember that the team with the worst record never gets the top pick. I want all our horses to play, as I believe the basketball gods will reward our boldness come lottery time.

Also, Caron and Jamison's minutes aside, I think there's little risk of Tap overplaying Gil or Haywood when they come back.

I think Sac has the strong inside track at the worst record. However, going below 2 in ping pong balls would not be good because then if other teams leapfrog in the draft lottery the Wizards could conceivably end up with the 5th or 6th pick. Staying in the 2-4 range at least might preserve some value for a trade down dump of a contract least.

this is absolutely awful. Why would Gilbert come back and risk us actually winning a game and losing some ping pong balls. I'm sure that Gil is probably about %100 healthy, but I don't think that it's worth the risk. It's risking our chances at the #1 pick AND risking Gilbert's health by coming back possibly too early.

I don't see him playing more than 15 minutes per game. I think he wants to go out to prove to himself that he can still dominate games and to see whether he has the speed/strength to dribble drive past his opposition and get to the goal. Gilberts ability to get past his man and penetrate to the hole is the single most important thing going forward for this franchise. If he can still do that, he's an elite player, if he can't he's a max-salary jump shooting guard; although a good one just not worth the money. 15 minutes of Arenas is worth it in my opinion, it won't be enough to make them win, but enough to give faith to the fan base to purchase season tickets and to help EG strategize for the off-season.

Too early? After all this time, if he's not healthy by now, he never will be.

I think Gil wants to play now but changed his mind and decided to wait until they get some more practices under there belt and the fact that Caron & Wood probably told him that they will be back on Saturday also. I feel 50/50 because this will probably make us drop down to the 5th or 6th pick but I dont really care about Griffin like other do since we already have Wood, AJ, Blatche, and McGee. I would much rather us try to get a guy like Rubio, even if its just to hold his rights. We dont need anymore young guys right now and I think we have enough to make things competitive next year without adding a rookie. The problem is that there's a good shot that Rubio may not come out which in that case I would just trade the pick.

Im still worried that Gil may be doing too much too soon. I mean they basicaly said he was still hurting, then he saw the specialist which fixed him, and like a week later he was doing major work? It just doesnt sound right to me. Im glad the guy healed you but that doesnt me that you should instantly start doing big time work on the knee when the whole time it wasnt right 1st. I also would much rather him to come back now when were playing teams like the Bulls & Bobcats but I guess he wants to wait for the horses to return. All in all I guess this is good but the problem is that if the vets return then the young guys will probably sit and the thing I wanted to see the most was Gil play with Young, McGuire, Blatche, and McGee. I didnt really care about seeing him throw it into Wood or play with Caron, AJ, and James but I think thats what we will see the most. I also would love to still see Dom at the 2 and Caron at the 3 when were healthy but Tap still likes have Caron at the 2 and Dom at the 3

I disagree, dlts20. Griffin is a franchise-changing player.

This team doesn't have a power dunker with strength to bang and with touch who can run like a deer. Griffin can. McGee doesn't have the strength to hold position or the body to impose his will on opponents. Javale can run and dunk and get up with the best of them. He and Griffin together would be as athletic as they come in about 3-5 years.

Only thing Rubio does is stay overseas or wait to play PG behind Gil, or with Gil form one small backcourt. I don't see Rubio being anything more than a way the Wizards save money for a while with him overseas.

The team has a lot of young players, but I say draft Griffin (or Blair) and trade a one or two yonng bigs and Etan.
Bye bye Beal.

Relax, Stern has fixed the lottery every year. How many balls for Orlando when they got Shaq? ONE BALL - Like Lance Armstrong.

Only 1 of the 66 balls in the lottery machine had Orlando's name on it. Miraculously, that ball came up before any other, and Orlando ended up with its second straight No. 1 overall pick

MJ to WASHINGTON - KWAME BROWN - Stern can't make the pick BTW.

LOL at this entire thread on the General NBA Board....

I promised myself I wasn't going to read it, and just make one post, but it was too tempting.

Me too... I'm surrounded by Cavs (Lebron) fans daily... I really want something to rub in their faces before they win the championship (damn I hope they don't...)

I definitely have mixed feelings

like everyone, I want to see him play and I ALREADY have
tickets for Saturday so I'm good to go there.

but to me the draft is critical.

not so much the loss of a position wrt winning the number one
because the difference between 2-4 in odds, isn't that much.
But what becomes more important is where you end up in the
final order. Winning an extra game or 2 could move us behind a
team or 2 seeing how close we are with LAC and MEM. What we don't
want it to fall behind in picking amongst teams that don't get 1-3.

Sorry to troll, and I'll admit this is for fantasy purposes.

But, wondering if you can offer any advice/updates on the health of Caron and Gilbert. I have Caron and have a bye this week. Next week is the first round I'll be playing in. Should I hold out hope Caron will come back? Should I drop him for Gilbert?

Thanks for any help provided.

Gilbert's only playing in like 5 games, and Butler may be coming back tomorrow.

Gilbert is coming back on Saturday, but even when he comes back, his minutes will be scaled back and his game will not be anywhere near what it will look like when he gets his groove back (meaning next season).

I'd keep Caron. There's no set date of return for him, to my knowledge, but if and when he does come back, he'll still play big minutes and put up solid numbers.

Just my $0.02, though.

Agree 100%. Griffin gives us what AJ, Blatche, McGee, and Sangalia don't have...skill AND toughness. I'm not ready to predict Griffin will be a superstar, but he certainly would bring to this team what we need (a bonafide big man that can play both ends) and what we have lacked since Jeff Ruland and Wes Unseld. Draft Griffin if we have the #1 and trade Blatche + Etan, Stevenson or Sangalia for a quality SG.
