LyricalRico wrote:^ Raef's deal is about to expire therefore he cannot be traded, so the discussion about his current contract is moot. We also don't want or need him to be included in any deal for any reason. If you want the 2-5 pick, here's a deal I would accept:

Wiz trade: Stevenson, Pecherov, pick 2-5
Blazers trade: Fernandez, 2010 first

It breaks down to our lotto pick for Fernandez and a future first, plus giving you Pecherov as compensation for taking on Stevenson. I think it's very fair value for Portland.

From a Wiz perspective, it solves our luxury tax problems, gives us a better SG prospect, and gets us another pick in 2010 when we'll need cheap depth after re-signing Haywood and McGuire.

Haywood/Blatche/McGee
Jamison/Songaila
Butler/McGuire
Fernandez/Young
Arenas/James/Critt

Fishercob came up with the same trade about 5 pages ago, only we give them Songaila instead of Pecherov. Portland fans were fairly receptive assuming the pick landed them Rubio. I think they'll be considerably less enthusiastic if it's the 3rd pick or below.

If we got the #2 pick and the Kings got the #1 pick, what about the following?

Kings trade:
1) Kevin Martin
2) Jason Thompson
3) Nocioni
4) Kenny Thomas
for:
1) #2 overall (Rubio)
2) Blatche
3) Young
4) Etan
5) Stevenson
6) James
7) Songaila

NEW LINEUPS:
Wizards:
PG: Arenas/Critt
SG: Martin/Dmac
SF: Butler/Nocioni
PF: Jamison/THompson
C: Haywood/McGee

Kings:
PG: Rubio/Udrich
SG: Young/Stevenson
SF: Garcia/Greene
PF: Griffin/Songaila
C: Hawes/Blatche

if Blake and Rubio are gone im hoping we can trade down with minny
and do somthing like

3rd rights to Hasheem Thabeet + Crittiton + Deshawn + Etan expiring
for
6th rights to Brandon Jennings + Mike Miller + Mark Madson expiring

then maybe follow that up with a trade with orlando they are looking to trade into the draft they want a late 1st or early 2nd

Songalia + Pesh + early 2nd
for
Tony Battie Expiring Vet Center

soo we would end up with this lineup

Gilbert – Jennings – James
Miller – Young – Dmac
Caron – Dmac – Antwan
Antwan – Blatch – Madson
Wood – Mcgee – Battie

lol love making trade ideas

Very interesting mhd. Leave Nocioni and Etan out of it and I like it a lot more. I'm not interested in Nocioni's long term deal when he'd be redundant with DMac. I'd rather just draft a guy like Danny Green in the 2nd round to fill that role.

Interesting deal, but nate is right. The only person in the entire draft that Portland is remotely interested in trading up for is Rubio.

yeah i think they would want Rubio only becuz the rest after him and blake is to risky potential prospects

im hoping Uconn and Hasheem win out in the tournament to boost his trade value up so we could have more options

Exactly. We shouldn't have to take Nocioni if the Kings are trading for our pick. I also don't think the deal has to swap so many redundant players. Something like this is simpler yet just as effective:

Wizards trade: Stevenson, Young, Pesh, and #2
Kings trade: Kevin Martin and 09 second (#31)
TRADE ID 5048983

We take back a bit more salary to satisfy the BYC provision but it's essentially a cap neutral deal because we don't have to pay the salary due the #2 pick. We solve our SG position for years to come and set ourselves up to get great value with the first 2 picks of the second round. I'd still like to move Blatche but I could live with this rotation:

Haywood/McGee/Etan
Jamison/Songaila/Blatche
Butler/McGuire
Martin/McGuire
Arenas/James/Critt

I guess the deciding factor is how do the Kings value Rubio and his potential vs Martin and his contract? If they think Rubio can be a star and they feel they need to save longterm cap, then this is a slam dunk for them.

Hawes/Pecherov
Griffin/Thompson
Nocioni/Greene
Young/Stevenson
Rubio/Udrih

Not a bad start to true rebuilding, especially with pretty much everybody locked up for the next 2-4 years. Wow - I think I like this scenario for both teams.

can we trade Rubios rights with Deshawn or Songalia for Michael Beasley he is compared to Blake
gilbert caron antwan beasley wood ... thats a nice starting 5

Beasley is going to be good, but he's not the power player Blake is - and the Wiz need more power - less finesse. Beasley is probably not the kind of player the Wiz would be going after - too similar to Jamison.

Wiz Trade: Stevenson, Blatche, Pecherov
Wiz Recieve: Kenny Thomas (Expring) Future Pick

Assuming we land the #1. We get Immediate Cap Relief for 2010 off season while taking away the longjam at SG and PF

Haywood/McGee
Griffen/Jamison
Butler/Jamison
DMAC/Young
Arenas/Critt

Deep Bench: Thomas, Thomas, D SONG, Mike James, 2nd Round Pick

I would do that, assuming any protection on the pick is reasonable (not like the rules on the MEM pick). I think the rotation would look like this, though:

Haywood/McGee/Etan
Griffin/Songaila
Jamison/McGuire
Butler/Young
Arenas/James/Critt

If we land Griffin, then it would definitely make sense to look to trade Blatche plus Stevenson for cap relief.

That said, I don't think McGee is ready to take over the role of backup center yet. He still has a lot to learn. Ideally, we wait until the Trade Deadline next year before trading Blatche. That way, we buy more time for McGee to learn the NBA game.

The best scenario would be to trade Blatche + Stevenson at the Trade Deadline to an under-the-cap team or a team with a TPE. That'll get us out of the luxtax next year and provide plenty of cushion to resign Haywood and DMac the following year. Any future picks we could get in the deal would be gravy.

My guess is that Griffin wouldn't start his rookie year. The lineup would be:

PG Arenas/Crittenton
SG DMac/Young
SF Butler/Jamison
PF Jamison/Griffin
C Haywood/McGee

Hey guys, was in here a few pages ago with a Rubio trade, and had a revision I was curious about.

Outlaw + Bayless + 2009 1st + 2010 1st (conditional)

for

Stevenson (waived) + Songailia + #2 pick (Rubio)

The 2010 1st is conditional on Rubio playing in the 2009 - 2010 season. Anyone find that better than the straight cap space? Someone said "replace Bayless with Rudy" but there's no way Portland could do that IMO. Their bench would score 5 points a game if they traded both Rudy and Outlaw, (who happens to be the third highest scorer off the bench this season, after being the second highest scorer off the bench last season after Manu Gionobili).

One Spaniard for another, eh?

Fair enough. I guess I'll see you guys next season... Portland isn't trading Rudy and capspace for Ricky. Hope you guys get a deal from Sac or something... Arenas and Butler shouldn't be in the lottery.

Will the Raptors be brandishing a gun at Ernie Grunfeld at the time of the deal? I'm not even sure the Wizards would trade Griffin and Jamison for Bosh, let alone throwing in a top quality small forward as "filler".

Another Toronto homer with a patently absurd trade proposal.

Bosh is not Tim Duncan or Kevin Garnett. He's good, but he's not a HOF caliber PF. He will soon be overpaid when he signs his max contract. Basically, his trade value will be little more than Jamison. Honestly, would you rather have a 20/10 no-defense PF earning an average of $12M a year (Jamison), or a 20/10 decent-defense PF earning an average of $20M a year (Bosh)?

Don't get me wrong. I like Bosh and think he's an upgrade over Jamison. But the Wizards aren't giving up the kitchen sink for him.

A reasonable trade would be Jamison + Mike James (filler contract) + #3 or lower pick for Bosh.

If the Wizards land the #2 or #1 pick, then it's the pick plus Songaila + Stevenson + James (filler contracts).

If you don't like it, oh well. We'll survive without Bosh.

Let's take a look!

Code: Select all

         PP36  RP36  AP36  SP36  BP36  TO36   TS%
Bosh     21.5   9.3   2.3   0.8   0.9   2.1  .567
Jamison  21.0   8.3   1.8   1.1   0.3   1.4  .549

Hm, so the stats do seem to say that Bosh has the slight edge on Jamison. He's also younger, which is certainly nice. Let's call him 15% better.

Code: Select all

         PP36  RP36  AP36  SP36  BP36  TO36   TS%
Kapono   12.6   3.2   2.2   0.4   0.1   1.4  .525
Butler   19.2   5.8   4.1   1.5   0.3   2.9  .546

Oh my, not quite the same tale here. Butler is vastly superior to Kapono almost across the board. They're also about the same age and have two years left on their contracts. This time, we'll say that Butler is 65% better than Kapono.

Things aren't looking good so far. The question is, is getting the number one pick back from Toronto enough to offset the 50% difference between what we're sending out versus what we're getting? Griffin does look like a pretty good prospect, so I'd say that all in all, it's actually not a bad deal at all.

Wait, what's that? We're the ones sending out the number one pick? Geez, now I feel kind of foolish. You were obviously making a joke and it went over my head. Egg all over my face.
