A Village Idiot's mock draft *** with trades ***

Post#1 » by Village Idiot » Tue Nov 10, 2020 8:48 am

1. James Wiseman - Chicago (from Minnesota)
Minnesota trades: #1, Layman
Chicago trades: Wendell Carter, #4

Chicago gets a center upgrade to build around
Minnesota gets a nice asset to move down a couple of notches to still get the guy they want

2. LaMelo Ball - Detroit (from Golden State)
Golden State trades: #2, Andrew Wiggins
Detroit trades: #8, future 1st - top 5 protected in perpetuity, Tony Snell, Derrick Rose

Detroit is rumored to want Ball and get him by giving up a protected future first and taking on Wiggins.
Golden State moves down to get the guy they really want in Okongwu, saves a bunch of money and/or gets another big trade exception. Snell is a 40% 3pt shooter and a half decent defender who should do well in his limited role. Rose gives the Warriors a savvy back-up PG

3. Anthony Edwards - Charlotte
They get their go-to guy

4. Obi Toppin - Minnesota (from Chicago)
They are rumored to like Toppin but get another nice building block in Carter as well

5. Deni Avdija - Cleveland
Nice fit for a rebuilding team looking long-term

6. Tyrese Haliburton - Atlanta
Great combo guard for the Hawks who can back-up young and/or start at SG

7. Killian Hayes - New York
The Knicks get a guy some think is the best player in the draft at 7

8. Onyeka Okongwu - Golden State (from Detroit)
Golden State gets a great long-term piece at PF/C

9. Patrick Williams - Washington
Williams should fit right in at SF for the Wizards. He might end up as the best player in this draft long-term

10. Kira Lewis - Phoenix
Super quick PG who can learn the pro game behind Rubio

11. Saddiq Bey - Portland (from San Antonio)
San Antonio trades: 11
Portland trades: 16, Anfernee Simons

San Antonio starts the rebuild by moving down to not overpay for the guy they want. Simons is a super skilled and athletic 21 year old whom the Blazers players and front-office have raved about.
Portland moves up to get their guy, a high character 3 and D combo forward

12. Issac Okoro - Sacramento
Tough and athletic SF to spark this lustless team

13. Devin Vassell - New Orleans
Perfect 3 and D role-player for a team with a couple of big dogs already

14. Jalen Smith - Boston
Great fit for the Cs in a Myles Turner like stretch, shot-blocking center

15. Jaden McDaniels - Orlando
McDaniels seems to be the prototypical Weltman pick. Super long and multi-skilled

16. Aleksej Pokusevski - San Antonio (from Portland)
Popovich and his fantastic staff could make Pokusevski into the next Porzingis but with better passing skills

17. Aaron Nesmith - Minnesota
Great outside shooter who should get a lot of open looks

18. Zeke Nnaj - Boston (from Dallas)
Dallas trades: 18
Boston trades: 26,30
Boston gets another stretch big by moving past Miami whom are rumored to like him

19. Precious Achiuwa - Brooklyn
Project who can develop on a team without any great expectations on him

20. Leandro Bolmaro - Miami
Draft and stash guy so they can maximize cap next off-season

21. Tyrell Terry - Philadelphia
Sixers get a potential long-term guy at PG. Smart and tough shooter

22. Tyler Bey - Denver
Nuggets get one of the best athletes in the draft who can shoot and defend well enough already to get some run this season

23. Desmond Bane - Utah
Utah gets a well rounded athlete who can contribute from day 1

24. RJ Hampton - Milwaukee
The Bucks get an absolute steal at 24. Some people see him as a lottery guy

25. Cole Anthony - OKC
The Thunder get an alpha guy who was once viewed as the top PG in the draft. He can learn the craft behind Paul and/or Shroeder

26. Theo Maledon - Dallas
Great role playing guard

27. Immanuel Quickly - New York
Rose has to take the Kentucky guy. Quickly is an outstanding shooter and one of my value guys this draft

28. Paul Reed - LA Lakers
Solid guy who knows his role and limitations who should be able to contribute already this season.

29. Grant Riller - Toronto
They get the next FVV

30. Josh Green - Dallas
Great athlete whom a lot of people feel have flown under the radar
