That's a hell of a player. Are you being serious?

Dead serious.

but is it really? A big that does his damage from the perimeter, liability beyond the arch, subpar defender and will not be able to use his strength/size to his advantage against NBA bodies.

Less athletic John Collins?
Rookie Miles Bridges?
Worst shooting version of Tobias Harris?

Somewhere around there, obviously still a max player in todays NBA but that doesn't really mean much nowadays.

This isn't a Banchero sucks post, but more a give me Chets upside instead argument.

I rewatched the Alabama game and am coming around a bit more to Chet. I do think he has a wide enough frame to add some weight, and even though he can get destroyed by guards physically, he does have really good instincts around the rim. I think a lot of what he does will not translate, e.g. taking the ball down the court, etc. I see him more as a Myles Turner style player (more skilled as a rookie) than the offensive hub I think people imagine.

I have him not entering the draft unless his season turns around, which there is still time.

Thanks, I was wondering because Chad Ford is saying lotto pick and only Duke player going higher is Banchero. He needs to get more consistent minutes though.

I have to say I am amused with myself for having OKC walking away with:
2. Chet Holmgren
12. Ousmane Dieng
30. John Butler (this one was kind of a joke...but also?)
34. Peyton Watson

Just the possibility of a lineup with three 6-10+ guys that can shoot (Chet, Dieng, Butler) + guards who do more damage than some of their bigs inside (Shai, Giddey) is really fun. With so many picks, why not swing for the fences on the late ones?

Dieng seems like an amazing prospect to me...a 6'8 Playmaker who shoots 3s and blocks shots...?...shouldn't make it to #12..I'd say it's just Spurs and I took him with #5. .a Cade/Dieng backtrack...

Yah, I think Dieng and Daniels have the best chance of being surprising guys who go top 7. Right now I just have Daniels because we've heard some intel that it might happen, but if Dieng went there I wouldn't be surprised (and I think it's a good call by you).

Updated the big board with archetype rankings. The archetypes make some sense, but not completely...but hopefully give an idea of the kinds of roles at their respective positions a lot of guys will play.

1st round correct picks: 8
1st round right range: 22 (73%)
1st round, not drafted in 1st: 5
1st round, not mocked in 1st: 5
Grade: C

2nd round drafted: 18 (60%)
2nd round drafted in 1st: 5
Grade C

Didn't do as well this year as last year, but I think this was a more complex draft to evaluate so I'm pretty okay with how it went. Happy to have nailed the first 10 players off the board, even if they went in a slightly different order.
