Pistons Interested In Dennis Lindsey, Monitoring Tim Connelly For President Of Basketball Operations Role

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed May 1, 2024 6:00 am

The Detroit Pistons would have interest in Tim Connelly as their new president of basketball operations should Connelly opt out of his contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves this offseason, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.

Connelly is currently in the second year of a five-year deal.

The Pistons are also interested in Dennis Lindsey, currently a Mavs consultant, for the role.

JJ Redick is also a name to monitor for the open position, sources told Stein.

The new president of basketball operations would make the final decision on Troy Weaver's future with the Pistons next season.

If the Timberwolves are serious about continuing to win then they need to do all they can to keep Connelly around.

Troy Weaver should get demoted to some assistant coaching role or scout until his contract runs out regardless of what happens.

JJ was a fine player and is currently a pretty good color guy and analyst (and may end up being a good executive), but he never won a title in college or the pros. He did win a high school state championship though...

That's why random fans don't get to choose their team's President. We save the fan vote for unimportant things like... All-Star Starters and President of the United States.

Hiring JJ Redick would be such a Pistons thing to do. Connelly would be a huge get if he wants a new challenge.
