Mike Conley has been named the 2023-24 Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year.  Conley has won the annual award for the second time, having previously earned the honor in the 2018-19 season.

The Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award recognizes the player deemed the best teammate based on selfless play, on- and off-court leadership as a mentor and role model to other NBA players, and commitment and dedication to team.

Conley finished first ahead of Mikal Bridges and Jalen Brunson.

Jrue Holiday had won the award three out of the past four seasons.

Every single time Mike Conley wins a 'not so useful' award, I'm going to chime in and say that this dude is low key the most underrated NBA player of his generation.

Only a 1-time all-star by commissioner selection, but advanced stats comparable to a solid perennial all-star. Should be in the hall of fame; hope he gets into the hall of fame.

Maybe he will, but it won't be for a while. In his defense, the pg spot was loaded in his generation so he'd be overlooked a lot especially due to playing in Memphis where he was apart of the grit and grind era Grizzlies(loved that team and a shame they couldn't get a competent wing at the 3). Not to mention that in the west when you had to deal with the following when it came to all-star spots:

-Stephen Curry.
-James Harden
-Chris Paul
-Russell Westbrook
-Damian Lillard to name a few

There's a bunch of other guys in the east as well and other great players in the guard spot that led to Mike being left off. Am honestly impressed that he, Al Horford, Kevin Durant and Jeff Green(the last 2 Supersonics left from Seattle) are still in the league from the 2007 draft. Thad Young is still around but he's cooked. Maybe Conley will finally get that ring in Minnesota(a little premature as Denver is far more experienced but crazier things have happened.)

This isn’t just a rebranded Sportsmanship Award. Last year, Conley won both.

He said before the season that he really wants to win a fifth Sportsmanship Award, since no player has ever done that. What a great thing to be competitive about!

Well deserved, we miss him on the Jazz. Would've loved to keep him as a player-coach for our new guys, but I guess best of luck to him and Minnesota.

He is also the voice in Ant’s ear, and he’s been instrumental for his accelerated learning curve on passing out of double teams.

I heard yesterday that he always sits next to Ant in the film room. Sometimes when Chris Finch says something critical of Ant, and he is about to get mad and go after the coach, Conley stops him and says, “No, you need to listen. He’s just being honest,” and that diffuses the situation.

For the record, Ant wants Finch to coach him hard, and one of Ant’s best features is that he is always trying to shut up and learn. He doesn’t care from who - he mimics Tim Duncan moves, and he credits his slow-step to Luka Garza. Even if Mike Conley couldn’t play a minute on the court, having a smart, composed guy like Mike Conley would be a worthwhile investment in Edwards. Can’t ask for anyone better.
