Strike Amnesty period refers to the periods during the year, usually two, where posters with a single strike and no violations since can appeal to Howard for that strike to be removed. The committee reviews and votes. The committee is a panel drawn from the GB mods.

Edit: Should add, Howard announces when the period is upon the GB. It isn't a quiet loophole that people might miss.

So the strike amnesty period does absolutely nothing for those who have ROA since they have 2 strikes right?

There are no strikes on other boards, only warnings.

Right but since I have two strikes on GB (ROA), the strike amnesty period wouldn't do anything for me right?

You can't amnesty on read only access from what I understand. You need to get an appeal approved and then try the amnesty (whenever it is around).

Strike Amnesty is only for

- Users with One General NBA Board Strike

- Users who have successfully appealed Read-Only Access

I will be announcing details sometime this month.

And that right there my friend, is nearly impossible on this forum. You can have a clean record for over 6 months and appeal like 3 times and they will still deny you.

No offense but the appeal process is the biggest joke of these forums.

SF88,

We have a fair process.

Myself and The General NBA Board Moderator Appeals Committee want to be sure users do not pick up a third strike and then have no Access to our General NBA Board.

I will be discussing the Appeals Process in The Mass Matter in 1 1/2 weeks.

Amnesty? Appeals? Sounds like I should read the RealGM CBA.

Why do you think RealGM has survived in the new age of social media?
What will it take to survive the next 5 years?

Needless to say Boards and forums were an integral part of the internet's beginnings, but the majority have since died off. In that recent Carl2680 article on CBS, they spoke of this board as if it were something archaic - a museum article, preserved for every one's amusement.

And yet here we are, active and blossoming. Are we growing, or does it just seem that way?
Why has this board survived so long, when this medium has been deemed a relic of the earliest days of online sports discussion?

You're a Raptors guy so you know we need RealGM. Our media are clueless so opinions in our forum matter way more. We're the ones who generate questions for our media to pose to our GM.

That really does not make sense though. Even if we pick up our 3rd strike, then we can still sign out of our account and still read the threads just like the "read only" access does for us.

Picking up the 3rd strike and being put in ROA 2nd strike is the same thing. Only difference is that we only got 2 chances as opposed to 3.

Interesting thread...

Anyway H.Mass and the other global mods have done a great job here in my 9 years here as a member. I'm also myself RAO user on the GB. I've appealed I think 3 times ( to no avail so far ), but that's not to say I haven't been given a fair shake so to speak.

In my time away from the GB I've since taken to posting here on RGM in it's truest form....directly to the fan bases when discussing those teams or whatever topics come up with said teams. I must say the discussions are much more intelligent and contain more fluidity. I've taken this tact because it proves for one, I'm not a poster looking to flex some agenda on other teams boards. And I know for a fact I have a good and respected standing on several teams boards like the Heat and Blazers and my own Lakers board.

From what I'm reading so far from guys, is that there seems to be a rush to get reinstated on the GB and have restrictions lifted. I'd say give it some time, try to prove yourself in other forums such as the Player Comparison board and try to appeal your issues down the line.

Has the stance on posting off topic gifs and images on the GB softened?

They seem to be ignored by mods posting in that same thread, yet others in the past have copped warnings or strikes for it.

As the Gb Policy thread outlines, strikes are a Gb-only system for how we treat warnings and which carry automatic 12-hour suspensions. Warnings do not always come with suspensions and apply to all boards.

Keep in mind that not all mods are GB mods, even if you see the font/color on their name or the title bar indicating that they are a mod.

Are those same mods held to the same accountability (meaning they can get suspensions or even ROA if they break GB rules)?
