It's over for L.A. too...

Not a good night for MLS.

Embarrassing. Year in and year out. I'm not even going to pretend RSL and Seattle have a chance tomorrow.

They don't.

This tournament taking place during MLS preseason is just killing us.

Club América vs. Seattle Sounders
Estadio Azteca, Mexico City, Mexico
2015-16 CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals, second leg

The Seattle Sounders surrendered two all-important away goals in the first leg of their CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals series against Club América, but it wasn’t all bad for the MLS club. Seattle debuted their formation shift to a 4-3-3 to good effect on the offensive end, resulting in two Clint Dempsey goals and a number of other chances. Whether Seattle are able to keep that pace up in the notoriously brutal environment of Estadio Azteca is another question all together.

It could have certainly been a different story coming out of Seattle in the first leg, with Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid rightfully lamenting allowing a first equalizer to América just seconds before halftime. With the Sounders pushing high up the field in their new formation, they were burned by the speedy Darwin Quintero.

Real Salt Lake vs. Tigres UANL
Rio Tinto Stadium, Sandy, Utah
2015-16 CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals, second leg

Real Salt Lake return home to Rio Tinto Stadium for the second leg of their CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals matchup with Tigres facing a daunting hole following their 2-0 first-leg loss in Mexico. They’ll need a 2-0 win after 90 minutes to force extra time and a 3-0 to go through to the semifinals. Just one Tigres goal – with the away goals tiebreaker – would all but seal RSL’s fate and end their dreams of repeating the magic of 2011, when they advanced to the CCL final.

To move on, RSL will have to improve on both ends of the field – but perhaps most importantly in front of Tigres’ goal. RSL equaled their opponents in shots on target (five apiece), but couldn’t capitalize, and that included two solid looks for new target man Yura Movsisyan.

Here we go again, another doubleheader of soccer. After tonight, MLS will once again be out of this tournament early.

Emotional wreck right here. RSL gave Tigres hell. Bring on the Orlando copycats!
