They are going to be serious problems in a few years.

Also, it's nice that it took Caitlin Clark's signing to shine a light on how underpaid WNBA players are but more people need to support the league by watching games, buying tickets, merch etc. If NCAA women's games are drawing in 18mil viewers and WNBA games don't even crack over 900k, what do people expect? The league operates at a loss.

I dunno if I'm angry or just disappointed that it took this long for people to get it.

Don't be outraged now and then continue to ignore the league next month. Liberty vs Aces only averaged 728k viewers. It's an improvement over year's past, but the league needs actual support from both women and men for the pay gap to be addressed.

I feel like I don't know enough about international women's basketball to be mad, but I am a bit upset the Sun took Leila Lacan over Nika Muhl.

I think it fits in well with the established pieces they have there. Kahleah Copper and Marina Marbrey like to bomb from 3, Diamond Deshields is apparently healthy and coming back. Alanna Smith was their only reliable big last year but they added talent in the offseason: defensive specialist Brianna Turner, Isabelle Harrison, and Michelle Onyenwere.

Kamilla already said her and Angel snatching all the rebounds.

I dont think nobody was expecting it, but was it a genius move to build a front line with them cause they will bring so much fire. Im expecting there will be some chippy games against them this year.

Add Turner to that mix. She can grab a board and block a shot.

Yep. That's a solid foundation. Trading Nneka was the right move for LA.

Cameron Brink already has a New Balance commercial with Kawhi, Jamal Murray, Tyrese Maxey, Zach LaVine, Dejounte Murray, Aaron Nesmith, and Darius Bazley.

Yeah the dark side of the WNBA is the majority of those that got drafted will be cut. The WNBA draft is mostly a joke outside of the first 15 or so.

The WNBA has a big problem. If they don’t expand rapidly they will be issues with the new wave of talent coming in.

WNBA is like Europe. It’s really about the veterans more than the younger players.

I learned about this the last two years seeing good rookies getting cut left and right cause there is no room for them

As an international fan, I love seeing our young talent living their best lives and getting drafted but...I don't trust the WNBA as a development league at all.

Looking at the three Aussies drafted, Shelley has played in college for several years and is 22/23. Meanwhile the higher upside players (Puoch and Borlase) are 19. Puoch in particular needs development to be anything close to her potential (which is sky high).
Meanwhile, Borlase was all-WNBL first team, and plays for Australia, but she's a baby, and is going to need to adjust to WNBA athletic ability and size.

My concern isn't the talent...it's the age. They're coming over several years younger than college players, to short rosters, and where teams often don't want to/can't invest 3 years in a benchwarmer.

By the time Puoch and Borlase get to Shelley's age, they're probably better players (Borlase already is), and they're probably back in Australia...

(I mean...hopefully I'm wrong...looks like Seattle is persevering with Jade Melbourne, who is similarly a young and talented Aussie who eschewed college)
