The WNBA needs to bar ESPN from doing these coaches interviews during live balls. They don't do this to the men. It's unprofessional, the coaches are trying to work FFS

I was so glad when Becky dropped f bombs on live TV last season when they did it to her.

Kelsey Mitchell is a baller. Helps a lot having her in the starting lineup (now cut Wheelers remaining minutes for Grace Berger and lets gooo).

Indiana fever with Clark running the show looks like pickup ball. At this point it’s a spectacle. I don’t think you can win playing this way but you can rack up a lot of stats.

Still think this is the teams best option this season. Just give her the keys and let her adjust.

Nothing if they go in. But analytically they're inefficient.
If I shoot 40% on long twos and 33% on threes, the three is the better shot.
Both because of my AVG points per shot attempt, and because of the additional spacing it provides.

Right, absolutely.

The only thing I would say is that I judge mid range shooting on a case by case basis. If Stewie is pulling up from 10-16 feet, I'm taking that shot all day from her. I'm of the belief that the mid range J still has a place in the game.

Yup, me too.
Might be a language thing ultimately. When I think 'long two' I'm not really think about Stewie working to the elbow.
I was actually pointing out to my daughter how easily and consistently Stewie was able to push into that midrange for a relatively open shot because of how well she understood space.

A couple thoughts on their new players.

Temi seems pretty solid. She has some awkward moments and her hands are a bit inconsistent, but she looks like a good athlete and finds a way to make plays with her energy. I've liked the minutes with her at the 5 and Boston at the 4.

Katie Lou has decent size and her skill level and IQ both seem solid, but she looks sooo slow out there.

Probably need to give Katie Lou a bit more time to work back into things.
I've been watching Kristy Wallace with interest. She missed basically the entire WNBL season in Australia (was supposed to be starting next to Jordin Canada for Melbourne) because of knee issues she couldn't shake.

Came back for the finals, which weren't that long ago, but struggled to change direction or pull up sharply. Just did it all on grit.

She looks better, but she has another level to get to (hopefully) in terms of her movement. At some point knee issues can become chronic so I really hoping she gets clear if these problems.

Well Charles Barkley got his ass kicked tonight by literally every big name W player or alumni for what he said about WNBA players' reception to CC.

Again. I'm just making observations. The people with the worst hot takes about this situation have all been dudes for the most part. We gotta do better yall.

Wallace was solid last year. Shes a pretty good off ball shooter and decent defender. She can put the ball on the floor a little to get into her pull up and can make connecting passes, but I haven't really liked it when theyve briefly tried playing her as a lead guard this season. Shes more of a pure SG than a combo guard imo.

I think they should consider starting Lexi Hull as long as she can hit some corner 3s to not completely kill their spacing. Wallace is a decent defender, but I think they could use an actual disruptive perimeter defender to help Boston out. You can play a defensive specialist like her to start games against top scorers and set the tone, but not actually play her a ton of minutes.

I think moving KLS to the 2nd unit was probably a good call. Her ability to play the 3/4 gives them a bit more lineup versatility coming off the bench. She was also struggling a bit with the pace of playing with Clark and wasn't giving them enough defensively, but she can hopefully work her way back into form in a bit more limited role. I would still play Berger over Wheeler and think they could have a solid nine player rotation. They are currently playing smaller than they need to for not a lot of benefit imo.

Clark (6'0") ~ Mitchell (5'8") ~ Hull (6'1") ~ Smith (6'4") ~ Boston (6'5")
Berger (6'0") ~ Wallace (5'11") ~ KLS (6'3") ~ Temi (6'4")

First win, and on the road. Missed a lot of the middle where they apparently went down double digits. Assume Aliyah kept them in striking distance, and Temi had a big game.

CC with the big 3s late despite shooting bricks earlier. Her hit ahead passing is great, reminds me of the ghost of Lonzo Ball. :( (Bulls fan :( :( :( ) Only 2 TOs.

But it was Kelsey who impressed late and knocked LA on their heels. She was absolutely on fire in the 4th.

Fun game. You already see Cameron and Rickea flashing. LA’s got a bright future. Seems like Cameron just can’t stop fouling though. With that already being a weakness in college, is that going to be her self-inflicted kryptonite?

It was interesting that Sides started Temi Fagbenle in the second half and Nalyssa Smith only checked in for a couple minutes in the 4th. Smith has had some bad moments this year with her defensive effort and not getting back in transition.

Temi has been legit this season.

CC almost had a triple double too. That one three **** in the 4th from deep was ridiculous.

When this play happened in real time I was impressed that Temi managed to get that last pass to Boston after she kind of got trapped under the basket.

I'm really curious to see who the Fever start tonight. I liked the Boston/Temi frontcourt with the three guard lineup (Clark/Mitchell/Wallace).

Chennedy Carter calls Clark a b***h and then 'shoves' her after a made basket. They were chirping a little before, but nothing crazy.

Read on Twitter

Post game Chennedy didn't want to talk about what had happened.

All eyes on the WNBA is good and this is great stuff for getting people to talk about wnba. A lot of casuals like myself get into it and sports shows have talking points that's exciting.

I agree that the publicity is good, but a lot of the conversation is toxic and nauseating. Comes with the territory though.

Geez. Fever gonna need some 80s style enforcer to watch Caitlin’s back? No flagrant? C’mon.

Being physical and aggressive is one thing. Those kinds of shots by Carter are just sour grapes. Weak by Carter ignoring it in the presser too.

But, oh well. They know not what they do. I predict they are going to make her tough as hell, and she’s going to become a monster to deal with in a few years.
