5.1 million euros with no taxes actually. And he is officially the most overpaid player in history I might add.

10 million euros = 13.5 million dollars. With endorsements being lost, plus the fact his career will likely be shorter going to Europe, he is likely to receive less over the course of his career by going to Greece.

Contracts in Greece are in NET terms. No they will not go to Greece, but keep that in mind in your calculations. That is $13.5 million AFTER TAXES.

In history of Euroleague I assume you meant (which I still doubt)?

In the NBA we have guys like Jerome James, Eddy Curry, Jamal Crawford, Jared Jeffries, Stephon Marbury, Quintin Richardson... and thats just on the Knicks!

Childress is the most overpaid player in the history of Europe yes. But he would also be up there in NBA terms. He's making over 5 million euros after taxes. That's an insane amount of money for the production he brings.

I don't know. Seems kinda doubtful that Ron Artest will go to Greece to guard some guy with a 19 letter last name a few months removed from guarding Kobe in the NBA play-offs. He seems like a competitor, and he'll probably stick where the actual competition is.

I don't think Olympiacos would do that. They gave Pargo a big contract and he was a complete bust of epic proportions. And Childress was a huge disapointment, but at least he is a team player and a good role player in a team concept. I think Olympiacos has learned plenty well enough to stay away from NBA players like Iverson. Of course, you never know.

I would love to see how Artest vs the crazy euro fans would pan out. But would some Euro team really throw that much money at the guy?

Olympiacos can pay whatever he wants. Believe me. Actually, Panathinaikos another Greek club paid an enormous salary back in the day with crazy benefits to Dominque Wilkins and they actually gave Drazen Petrovic a blank check and he agreed to leave the NBA - he was killed on his way to sign the contract.

Olympiacos even offered Webber $10 million after taxes per year when he was completely washed up and retired from the NBA. They offered Anthony Parker what would amount to about $16 million per year in the NBA last year but he could not get out of Raptors contract. So these big Greek clubs have a history of such things. I mean Jasikevicius has a contract from PAO that is huge as well. So yeah these Greek clubs can definitely give Artest whatever he wants.

Would they? I have no idea but I doubt it. I doubt it because the Greek fans are really into it and Artest would definitely be provoked make no mistake about it and if you go into the crowd in Greece there would be deaths and the player dumb enough to do it would probably be killed.

It just seems to crazy to even risk it to me.

Haha this guy is hilarious OP

Remember he made that thread "Kobe/Lebron close to signing or whatever B/S"

honestly i can see Childress coming back ot the NBA

I know Prientiz (whatever his name is) is coming to the Raptors

And there is no way in hell a big name is going there, unless you overpay massively

Like I said, Olympiacos isn't going to give a huge contract to just any NBA player again. They learned their lesson big time the hard way with Pargo and Childress. They would only give out a huge deal to the very top NBA players. In that case, it would simply be about whether the player wanted more money or not. I honestly don't think Artest even qualifies to the kind of player they want.

They can add Artest and still might not even be capable of winning the Greek League, let alone the Euroleague. The Olympiacos owners are thinking bigger than Ron Artest if you are talking about "massively overpaying". Otherwise, if no big players are interested I don't see it happening. They learned their lesson that guys like Josh Childress and Jannero Pargo were ridiculously overrated just because they were 6th men on NBA playoff teams and just because NBA fans the US media keep saying such a player would automatically be "the best in Europe", the club found out that's complete BS to say the least the hard way.

So I don't know what exactly your point is.

Money isn't everything, Olympiakos should've learned this from Panathinaikos' success. And stay away from Ron Artest. His presence will be more dangerous for the Aegean See than the Turkish and Greek armies. If you want a defensive specialist and trust your wealth so much go get Diamantidis.

They will probably keep Josh Childress and sign names like Ron Artest. Iverson manager came to Greece but the prezident of Olympiakos aims for better and younger players. Childress will probably be our sixth player and we will sign 2 big names from nba.(Gordon and Artest probably)

Actually tank rates are at their lowest since 2002 and shipping companies are having a hard time making payments on their ships and the banks are making calls requesting increased collateral as the value of even new ships have plummeted to 60% of build value. Unless he's saved a lot of cash or doesn't have much debt he's undoubtedly highly affected by the take rate crisis.

sofoklis wrote:Sorry but i have to stop your celebrations. Greece will destroy Usa again. Usa is better than 2006 ,but Greece too(4 old players left and the newcomers are superb players). You may won Lithuania and Turkey(they are weak teams and these were friendly games) but Greece at the proolympic tournament destroyed all teams too.

I keep hearing about Howard strength. Big Sofo is about 100 times stronger. I will not show you how he destroyed Howard and Bosh at 2006. Just watch at 1:44. Howard tries to take the rebound and big Sofo keep him away like he is a weak baby http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YWzVZHv ... re=related

sofoklis wrote:Kaman is a joke. This slow guy is 10 times slower than Sofo(and sofo is 160 kilos) and he isnt something special. Also Germans with Dirk and Kaman were a joke in the proolympic tournament and lost easy from Croatia. At least they qualified

Now Greece destroyed all teams ,although i must admit that the teams were very weak. Even Puerto Rico lost with 30 points. Greece will win the gold medal and Usa and Spain will fight for the silver medal.

Sofo is now 160 kilos and the plan of the team is to go 135 kilos this year. This guy has no problem with his knees and he dunks all the time. He is a beast. The problem is that his stamina is bad because of his weight. He comes from the bench and change the game. Offcource he cant play 40 minutes ,but he can play 20 minutes.

There isnt Dream team anymore. Lebron,Wade,Carmello,Hinrich(lol),Bosh are not something special(only kobe is trully great). You will lose again from Greece ,because Greece has better players and team.

sofoklis wrote:Greece will win again. Greece is even better now. We have changed 4 players and the team is more young and athletic. You have no hope again. Dont understimate European players and especially Greek players. Also Sofo has lost some kilos(160 kilos from 200 kilos) and he will prove again, that nba centers are no match for him. Prepare yourself to see dunks in front of Howard and Bosh.

I am sure that Usa team will be better too(kobe returns) but you will lose again

Also 2006 USA team had Lebron and Wade and Carmello and Paul and Howard and Bosh etc. It's basically the same team(Kobe until now don't play well). Greece made a bad game. We had like 0/8 three points and 25 turnovers!

Also our biggest weapon didn't play for almost a year and he wasn't in good condition. Now tell me how can a fat and slow man be faster than Howard ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2Cup9IaqHo

Yeah I remember him, Team USA shut a bunch of them up last summer. LOL at him coming back like nothing happened.

Ben Gordon is a very enticing player for Olympiacos because he has a british passport and fits their system, but i don't see him desiring to have a career in Europe. I think he'll get the contract he wants in the NBA one way or another.

The #1 player that Olympiacos should go after is Anthony Parker imo, he is a FA now, has the Euroleague experience and no problems returning to play in Europe and also is very affordable.
