If Melo doesn't play in these next few weeks we might as well shut him down for the season. Makes no sense to play him at the end of the season and he gets another injury.

Mark is likely done for the season and they haven't announced it yet.

I assumed he'd be good to go after the all star break at the latest. He's now missed about as much time as you would for a new, decent ankle sprain. No way ankle soreness keeps you out this long. Either they don't see a reason to play him without it being 110% or he hurt it again but they never told us because of the drama it would create about ankle braces and stuff. I've got to imagine playing with the hardware in there is also not great.

He'll probably have surgery again in the offseason.

If Melo gets shut down for the rest of the year I'm in full on "trading him won't break my heart" territory. Can't depend on him.

Another year wasted because his ankle can't function.

i don't expect to see melo again this year.
either (could be more than one):
his pain is worse than we know
the ankle hasn't heeled properly
he doesn't want to play thru any level of pain/discomfort
the franchise is holding him out
someone from melo's side is advising him to stay out

we really have no idea, but none of those feel like situations for him to return

none of this feels like - he's close, just getting back to game shape, waiting on final clearance etc...

Them Ball brothers just can't stay healthy.

The last thing we wont is to be stuck with his supermax contract and he's playing 20 games a year.

I'm all for giving him 1 more year to prove he can stay healthy. If he can't do it next year then we should seriously consider moving on.
