+3 with Okafor on the court, -9 with Armstrong on the court.

So what? David Lee was plus 11. Knicks dropped 40 points on Okafor's head in the 4th quarter. Okafor wins.......the first quarter! Yay!

I know Lee and Duhon had the pick and roll working for the Knicks so I'll assume Okafor wasn't too good at defending that. Offensively we already know Okafor isn't good at running the pick and roll so that is no surprise the Hornets would be frustrated with him. But hey, Okafor played like Hakeem Olajuwon in the second quarter hitting all sorts of crazy shots over Wilt Chamberlain errrr I mean David Lee and Darko Milicic. Hamilton and thruthefire must have been chanting MVP! MVP! MVP! after seeing that second quarter performance. No need to look at the 4th quarter and final score.

You do not understand how +/- works if you think it means anything to say Lee's +/- was 11 vs. Okafor's +3. When Okafor was on the court, the Hornets were winning. When he wasn't, they were losing. Same thing for Lee.

The Hornets lost because their bench got wrecked when D'Antoni left his starters in longer than Scott left his. Armstrong -9, Brown -11, Posey -10. Blaming their loss on Okafor is approximately as stupid as crediting Chandler with our wins.

They're both only a part of the reason for a team's results.

I'm just glad we've got to see Tyson Chandler's devastating pick and roll game.

I know Battery will dismiss this, but just to throw it out there, right now, Okafor has a PER of 22.38, while Chandler has one of 3.56.

Here’s the reference guide for PER:

Code: Select all
*A Year For the Ages:      35.0
*Runaway MVP Candidate:    30.0
*Strong MVP Candidate:     27.5
*Weak MVP Candidate:       25.0
*Bona fide All-Star:       22.5
*Borderline All-Star:      20.0
*Solid 2nd option:         18.0
*3rd Banana:               16.5
*Pretty good player:       15.0
*In the rotation:          13.0
*Scrounging for minutes:   11.0
*Definitely renting:        9.0
*The Next Stop: DLeague     5.0

Unfortunately for Yoga-for, NBA games are not won after 3 quarters.

The Hornets lost because their bench got wrecked when D'Antoni left his starters in longer than Scott left his. Armstrong -9, Brown -11, Posey -10.

Oh ok, we'll just conveniently throw out the 4th quarter when the Knicks outplayed the Hornets down the stretch. Didn't see Armstrong on the court then!

Wow, so according to this fancy little chart, you're telling me the Hornets now have 2 great players on their roster. Whats their record? 4-0?

Can you not have two great players and still not be 4-0? Two of those games came against SA and Boston, both of which were on the road. Those two teams are, quite simply, better than the Hornets. In reality, outside of their "Big 3" and Peja, the Hornets have a terrible supporting cast.

I don't expect Okafor to keep up that PER, though, I expect him to finish with a PER between 18-20. I just threw that out there to show how differently both players have started off in their new homes. The truth is, if any argument is to be made, it's that the Bobcats have won in spite of Chandler, not because of him.

Boy, Battery, your reply to my other post sure sounded a lot like exactly what I said. You should have just saved yourself some time and copied what I said about you blaming Okafor when he plays well but his team loses while you praise Chandler for playing "lousy" when his team wins.

Chandler has had little to no effect on our wins or losses, while Okafor certainly is not the reason why NOH has been losing more than expected.

As I said, when reality bears the truth out, we'll see what you have to say then.

Okafor looks pretty good if you ask me. I expect that to get better. Chandler looks horrendous, he's not even sure when to cut to the basket for an easy one. Why couldn't Orlando have just picked Okafor... WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!?!?

Odds are that flattens out when we get a little bit into the season. As I recall, in the NFL scoring is usually higher early on until defenses adjust to new strategies/learn tendencies. I would think a similar thing happens in the NBA... so this could just be a little bit of a mirage. Of course, that would also mean the Bobcats were even WORSE.

You should be happy our defense is amazing and not dwell on the offense. Of course our offense will improve, we have the same, if not better personnel than last season.
